Thank you! I actually ended up accepting the admission offer, so I will be attending in the fall (hopefully)!

Would you mind sharing what you wrote about in your sttment of purpose? I'm trying to figure out how to write mine, I'm applying this year.

Without sharing my actual SoP, here's a general idea:

So I approached the "Statement of Purpose" like this: "Why am I applying to UCLA/Film School? What does this school offer that others don't? Why do I even want to go to film school?"

This is going to be similar and different for everyone. EVERY applicant will talk about their "passion" for film, and how much they "appreciate" the art form. With your SoP, you need to think outside of the box. For example, I tried to tie it back to my Personal Statement because the two focused on a common theme.

Simply put, I talked about how film introduced me to friendships and communities that I lacked my whole life. By going to film school, I want to meet new people, artists, and organizations who support each other in telling stories. My paper focused on how I came to this realization throughout my undergrad.

Kinda keeping this vague because I'm sure your reasons and experiences would be different from mine! All I can really say is this: Be honest, and think about specific reasons why you want to go. I don't think there's a specific structure to follow, which gives you a chance to tell a story.

If you want to talk more, feel free to message me! I'm not on this website as much as I am on my social media, so if you need any advice and tips, hmu

When you get a moment can you edit and update this application in our database with your age, undergraduate field of study, and film experience level? (There are new searchable selectable options for each) Thank you! The more information filled out and selected the more helpful it is to future applicants.
