In 2021, NYU Tisch earned the coveted number 1 spot on The Hollywood Reporter’s list of best film schools in America, earning accolades for producing Chloé Zhao, the first woman of color to win an Oscar for Nomadland. And alumnus Reinaldo Marcus Green’s King Richard earned nominations in 6 categories at the 2022 Academy Awards.

NYU Tisch students take almost one-third of their classes outside of the film and media department. The school continues to receive significant endowments and awards. Most recently, NYU Tisch received its largest grant in history from the Hobson/Lucas Family Foundation to establish the Martin Scorsese Institute of Global Cinematic Arts. The institute will supply stipends for student films and scholarships.

Our unique program provides students of all levels with the opportunity to develop as engaged and versatile creative professionals and media artists.

Boston is joining the ranks of rising film hubs in America. 2021 saw the production of the 25,000-square-foot Marina Studios as more Hollywood productions are slated to start production. Emerson College is at the center of the excitement, its campus located on a bustling corner of the Theater District. This year, the college climbed to number 6 on The Hollywood Reporter’s list of best film schools in the nation.

Emerson’s BFA/MFA Media Arts Production program is split between Boston and its Hollywood campus on Sunset Boulevard, introducing students to industry best practices and networking opportunities from coast to coast. The college also offers a three-year intercontinental joint Global BFA in Film Art program, with digital film studies split between Boston and Paris.

Resources include a visual and media arts directing studio in the Paramount Center and the Emerging Media Lab, where students can hone their skills in animation, virtual reality, and more. Many alumni report Emerson is strong in screenwriting and visual storytelling.
