UT Austin - Film & Media Production MFA 2020

Has no one gotten any updates?
Also...the whole Coronavirus thing is shutting down most higher education institutions in Texas (including my own). Maybe that has to do with their lack of updates?

I received acceptance letter 2 weeks ago. I know they don’t tell you if you are waitlisted until April or May.

I still havent heard anything, and I was just saying in the chapman directing thread that the closings will probably delay the admissions process for a while. Hopefully we at least hear something from the schools on how they're approaching the situation. It's such a difficult time to since it's right in the middle and some people have already been accepted/waitlisted while others are waiting or still being reviewed.

Got my rejection notice last night. Unfortunate, as this was my top choice, but I'm happy with the opportunities I have been offered and I figure if it was meant to be, it would be.

I applied in 2018 and was waitlisted and then applied this year and was accepted. I live in Austin and they don’t usually take in locals... so I knew it was a long shot. I was planning on accepting my Chapman or wake forests offer ( I got waitlisted at duke) but was extremely surprised to be accepted. Not sure if it fits with your life schedule, but applying a different year might work.

I was waitlisted and was told I would know if I was accepted by by April 15th (today). While I don't think my chances are high, as I probably would have heard by now, I am curious if anyone has any inclination how much COVID-19 may push decisions or communication. I'm holding off on reaching out just yet, but may do so if I don't hear back by end of week, just so I can make arrangements either way. Good luck to everyone!

EDIT: Re-reading their email, they actually said they "hope to send [me] a final letter concerning the status of [my] application no later than April 15, 2020" So I suppose I'll wait until next week for something in physical mail.

Thank you to everyone providing very helpful information on this forum. On Friday I was notified that I was accepted into UT's 2020 Film & Media Program.

EDIT: I should mention the verbiage was that I was "recommended for admission" to the program "pending final approval from the Graduate and International Admissions Center". In an effort not to put the cart before the horse, I'll be waiting for confirmation from the center before updating my status further.

EDIT #2: Ok, I've been admitted. Sorry for all the edits.

Film School during COVID-19

I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe during this uncertain time. This article today is going to be a little different from the norm! Chris had the wonderful idea of writing up a little something about how different film schools are handling the COVID-19. I jumped on board immediately...
