I thought I'd create a thread for people who had their Applications rejected (YOU were not rejected... Your application was) to commiserate and discuss your next plans.

Are you applying again next year? Are you going to a school you were admitted to? Are you going to say F*** it and knock down the door to this business your own way?

To lighten the mood.... I present one of the most genius and hilarious short animated films of all time that I saw at a film festival in 2000.

Thanks Chris!! This is such a great forum, a great supportive system. I have no friends, let alone ppl who plan to apply to film schools, so I am glad I found this place, these ppl, to share the experience with!
Glad you like the site and find it helpful. :) I put a lot of work into it.

What are your plans?

I have been thinking about reapplying for another round. Btw does anyone knows about recommendation letters for reapplying? Is it possible for me to use the same letter my professors had submitted to the school last year? I really don't want to ask for a recommendation letter again as the waiting is so painful for me. I don't feel like they are willing to write me letters for another year:(

I had a particularly brutal admission process. Was rejected by Cornell Creative Writing and AFI and waitlisted to USC and Chapman. I was accepted into Feirstein though, which I was highly interested in from the start for a variety of reasons, so I'm thrilled. (Bias warning: I'm already a student in the CUNY system) I'm just going to forge ahead in that program since I'd like to go straight through to a PhD after grad school!

Maybe this isn't a healthy way of seeing things, but if they don't love me the first time, I just turn to schools that are actually interested. I couldn't see myself applying multiple times though I know that many people get in after several tries... Just not the path for me. Plus Feirstein was one of the only schools that actually hold interviews in the first place so I was able to build a relationship with them. (I know AFI does interviews too!)

I know these big-name schools get a ton of apps but I think their lack of interviews is a HUGE turnoff.

Had a similar experience w/ undergrad.
