I recently attended the Rome International Film School (RIFS) for both a year-long course and their summer program. It was a truly remarkable experience. I was in an environment that fostered creativity, collaboration, and personal growth.
One of the standout aspects of RIFS was the opportunity to connect with incredibly talented individuals. From fellow students to faculty members, I was constantly surrounded by a diverse and passionate community. It broadened my perspective on storytelling and technical expertise.
The Faculty at RIFS not only possessed extensive knowledge and experience in the industry but also had a genuine desire to see their students succeed. They were approachable, supportive, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure we had the resources and guidance we needed to bring our creative visions to life. I made three short films at RIFS that I am genuinely proud of.
I highly recommend it to anyone who is passionate about pursuing a career in Filmmaking.
I have done the 1 Year Program. Successfully shot Two short films. One of them won several awards and the second is still in post. All i want to say that the school will do its best to put you on your first steps of filmmaking.

What an incredible opportunity to meet such talented people and learn from them! I had enquired about Production Design summer courses and, although they don't usually offer those, Carl organised one with a visiting professor, John Muto (Home Alone, Species). I got to experience both an academic and professional take on designing a movie; for someone looking to have a properly informed start in the film field, this was unbelievably helpful.
No filmmaker is so great that Carl Haber cannot help them improve and explore the full extent of their potential. I have had the pleasure to take a handful of courses from Carl at RIFS and in addition to being one of the most interesting and kind people you will meet in your life, Carl is boundlessly generous with his over 40 years of industry wisdom, and picking his brain is a true gift for anybody interested in cinema. Before taking classes with RIFS, I had already completed film school and worked on every type of project from music videos to shorts to feature films and commercial productions, and I have never felt more confident in my ability as a creator than with the knowledge I acquired from RIFS. The courses I took from Carl have given me clarity in the process and made me comfortable pushing the boundaries of what I thought I was capable of. Carl believes in his students and advocates for them to the utmost of his ability. If you want to become a better filmmaker, you would be foolish to leave this opportunity unexplored. 10/10 stars, full endorsement from me.
Thanks to professor Carl Haber I was able to learn the fundamentals of screenwriting and how to implement them. For the first time in my life, I'm able to write an interesting story from beginning to end. Haber is very knowledgeable and guides his students into the interesting world of filmmaking. Great class, school, and professor! I highly recommend it!
the classes are in English, yes. Currently courses are online, so Americans can of course participate, as they are scheduled in the later afternoon Rome time. The hope and plan is to re-open the school on site for a special one semester term beginning in January, and if the covid19 pandemic eases up, and US residents are allowed back in to the EU and Italy specifically, then surely qualified Americans could join the program in Rome. If you are interested in the online classses taking place now and/or into the fall, please do write ASAP to info@romefilmschool.org - thanks from all of us at RIFS for your interest.
