The Helen Lansdowne Resor (HLR) Scholarship is an international opportunity that supports women and gender non-binary voices in film and other facets of the creative industry. It provides female and non-binary college students the opportunities and support they need to successfully join the advertising industry’s creative ranks.
Helen Lansdowne Resor, the industry and Wunderman Thompson’s first female copywriter, was an unparalleled creative force during her time. Now, we’re turning to the next generation looking to take their creative bravery to the next level.
The global scholarship, established with the 4A’s Foundation, will award four recipients $10,000 towards their creative journey, plus a paid internship at a Wunderman Thompson office in their respective region, a mentor from Wunderman Thompson and a “first look” placement consideration upon graduation.

How do I apply?
Fill out the application for your country of residence. You’ll have to submit your application form, a personal statement or letter of recommendation and 3-5 creative samples by 5 January 2024.
Winners will be matched with a Wunderman Thompson office based on their location. Internship dates will be aligned to school breaks within your region and may take place remotely or in-person depending on the assigned office.
What creative samples are required?
3-5 pieces of work that best showcase your creativity. These could be paintings, storyboards, graphic design campaigns, sculptures, videos etc. Remember, quality over quantity, so choose wisely.
What’s the personal statement?
It’s a free pass to take the spotlight! Tell us about your background, passions, and what inspires you to create.
How should my professional references provide their recommendations?
You can submit recommendations from faculty members or other professional references through the application form. We may contact your references for verification.
When will I be notified if I am awarded the scholarship?
Winners will be notified mid-February, prior to the March announcement.
