Why does a a Master's Degree in Film (MFA) take 3 years to complete at some schools?

This was so well worded and written... you should be a writer! 😂

Why does a a Master's Degree in Film (MFA) take 3 years to complete at some schools?

I think you're personally measuring what's "worthwhile" to you as opposed to understanding what is more worthwhile to others. If there are schools that want you to learn about multiple disciplines in filmmaking, not just directing, that can take a long time. The way I see it is you have 3 years...

USC Admissions Decision - Spring Semester 2024

If you haven’t applied for fall 2024 you can’t get in, the application was due last year. You also can transfer as an undergrad into the grad program. If you want to apply for undergrad just know that they do have the same opportunities and classes but not the seniority to equipment, labs, etc...

USC MFA Film Production vs UCLA MFA Screenwriting

I’m not sure what you chose to do in the end but if you want to actually make a film and get hands on experience in other disciplines I would chose USC and if you have the possibility to save up until January do it. I personally wouldn’t waste my money on a screenwriting program that isn’t going...

    USC SCA Internal Transfers?

In reference to the grad school question, what I meant was if you decided to not transfer and do film in your undergrad, grad school is also an option. I'm sure there's some sort of process to have a film minor I just don't know what it is. The course load is really important to consider...

    USC SCA Internal Transfers?

Hi, you can be an internal transfer. I don't know if you're asking because you're trying to weigh out the odds of getting in as a transfer versus ____? But if you want your undergrad major to be film then I would just apply. You can also do a film minor. I will say from being a TA for the...

USC SCA Film & Television Production 2024

No variations, it’s the exact same curriculum. The only difference is graduation, there’s no winter graduation at USC so you can walk your penultimate semester or the spring after

USC SCA Film & Television Production 2024

Not sure if this helps, but when you apply you should have applied for scholarships. You either know immediately when you're admitted if you got certain scholarships which is a very small amount, or they let you know before the fall. Also sometimes you don't get them but if you applied and you...

DEFINITELY weigh out if USC is the right school for you because it's a great school for becoming a well rounded director, but they do not want you to think there's a directing program. They want you versed in multiple disciplines. You can also learn a lot about producing and writing within the...

Reply to a question by 'scaldwellkerson' on the film school 'USC School of Cinematic Arts'

Yeah it's really tricky, and has also changed (the requirements for projects as a directing track student) within the 2 years I've been here. So coming out of the program their hopes are that maybe you've found a different discipline that interests you other than directing, lol. It's not...

So technically at USC there is no “directing” program. You can select the directing track as your focus but they make the classes you need to make advanced projects really hard to get into, thus making a more competitive program for directors. I have my own opinions on this process that don’t...

Most likely you'll get a spot, and hassling/asking them about your spot can also work. It's not out of the realm of possibility at all so don't think you won't get in. It's also possible they might give you admission for fall 2024.

What is difference between Creative Producing and Film and TV production? (undergrad)

Producing is just that, you're on track to be a producer. Film and television production means you're actually learning all the production aspects on set, pre and post production (editing, cinematography, directing, sound)

USC SCA Film Production MFA 2023

Just bug then all summer, that literally worked for me. When people drop out or don’t take the scholarship they’ll remember you and give you the scholarship.
