I recently got accepted into excellent film schools: UCSB, UCI, UCR, CSUN, CSULB, CSUF, and CSULA. However, my mind is set between UCI and CSUN they are closer to me and I can manage better. The problem is I have done my research and both schools have great explanations for the film/media...
The application process was challenging but invigorating. Being wait-listed felt pretty awesome but being in a perpetual state of between has been hard. Planning for the future when that future is up in the air can be psychologically taxing in ways I didn't expect.
I applied for the first time last year, where I got to the interview but then was given a spot on the waiting list. So I applied for the second time this year and fortunately I got in after doing an interview. After not being accepted in 2021, I spend a lot of time working on new short film...
Didn’t see a thread, so just wanna create one and ask: anyone joining the program this summer?
I’m hoping to get in touch with my classmates, but I don’t see many in the FB group the school created.
Hope to hear from you guys soon :)
Anxiously waiting for the decision after being interviewed on 2022-03-01. This is my second time applying for Columbia Directing/Screenwriting program. Finger crossed.
Really good. I didn't receive anything after I submitted the application, including the interview. The congrats from Chapman just happening on 2022-03-07.
It was difficult to summarize my academic, professional and spiritual journey all in one essay so I don't believe I did my best in terms of the personal statement. I did try my hardest to convey my passion and thoughts on film though. I think that out of everything I submitted, my visual sample...
The application process was pretty draining. Fear of not getting in anywhere was strong. I'm relieved to be done/not going into too much debt. Decisions seems incredibly arbitrary. My main remaining curiosity is whether these schools are actually need blind or if they know an applicants...
Application was similar to others. The only thing I didn't like was the Kira assessment. I don't think it's a good way to get to know us, an interview would be better. We don't have enough time to prepare and answer the questions.
AFI was fine! I think I struggled the most with my narrative statement during the application, because they ask you to answer a lot of questions and I found it difficult to transition from one answer to the other. Other than that there's not much to write (I already had my writing sample ready...
USC was a bit hard. They ask for a lot of stuff - 2 creative challenges, 2 creative essays, a writing sample AND a creative portfolio with a very specific format. Plus an extra scene if you want to request a scholarship. So it's a lot of work. Also the waiting is killer because there's no...
I guess I just don't match Chapman...really...
There's nothing much to say and I don't feel bad at all...Chapman was probably, like, one of the last schools I wanted to go to. I applied to it anyway and was rejected as expected...
Everything was good so far. I honestly didn't think I would come this far as I'm applying for the first time and had no previous experience with screenwriting. I was very happy to get an interview request :) NYU has always been a dream for me.
It was my first time applying. It was a little difficult to get everything done in time for the application. I was surprised to know that there aren't interviews for the program but I guess they ask for enough materials so they can get to know us. I did not get in this time and I'm waiting to...
First time applying and got rejected without an interview. I asked for some feedback and they didn't say anything very specific. They said there was a high number of applications this year and that they can only admit a maximum of 8 students per year.
I just got the acceptance email from UGA this morning! Did anyone else on here get in? What are your feeling about the school if you did? I'm curious if anyone on these forums applied because I haven't seen it mentioned in any threads this year.
It's my first time applying and I thought it was weird that I received an interview invitation since they don't usually do interviews with Screenwriting applicants. However, after talking to Chapman I learned that they started interviewing this year! Everything was fine until now, everyone from...
Did anyone else apply to UT Austin? It seems like a fantastic program and I am wondering how everyone else's experience has been going.
It says they will send out notifications around February 15th, but has anyone heard anything from the school so far?
Also, how does everyone's analytics look...
