Hi everyone,
My name is Hazel, and I am from South Korea.
This year, I got accepted into both UCLA for scenic design and AFI for Production Design.
However, I am finding it challenging to decide where to go, and I was hoping someone could help me out.
While I want to go to UCLA, I am concerned...
This was my first time applying to AFI.
I started working on the application around late September, mainly focusing on my statement and Directing the assignment on 'Necessity.'
I didn't have much time to work on my application because I had a full-time job then. I quit my job around October to...
It was not too difficult comparing to USC but I tried my best to ensure all requirements were met from uploading everything that is needed to fitting each essay into given standards. Also made each writing really personal and showed my passion for film industry.
If talking about interview, I...
Second time applying in back to back years, managed to submit both old and new material. The entire AFI process has been tough and filled with ups and downs as I was able to get interviewed last year but waitlisted and didn't hear back. This time though, I feel way more prepared and ready to...
It was so harsh. I revised whole my statement about 3 times. However, the process of other things for the application was smoother than the statement, I think. Now I’m waiting for interview invitation. I hope they admit me!
Update:Completed my interview last week. It was short and professional. We discussed my academic history and what I am looking for at AFI.
Very smooth. I wrote first drafts of the supplemental materials a couple weeks in advance. Didn't really rush to on any of them, getting notes from a couple...
I've selected two different short films as the sole editor, one was 5 minutes and the other was 30 minutes. But the time limit of each sample is 20 minutes, It took me a lot of time to restructure. Good luck everyone!
Just creating a general thread for all AFI 2024 applicants. I applied to the editing program, feeling good about it. What's everyone else applying for? How are you feeling about applying? And has anyone gotten an interview email yet?
This is my second year applying. I submitted my directing assignment from last year as my moving image sample and made a new short film for this year's assignment on the prompt of necessity. I also wrote a completely new personal narrative statement, ensuring that it addresses all the aspects...
First time applying. The application process was pretty straight forward. I started working on my materials in September but put them on hold until closer to the deadline due to work obligations. I really just tried to give them myself on paper since that’s what everything says they want to see...
Pretty straightforward application.
My short took much more time than anticipated. I was done with adding minute changes to edit before the deadline approached.
Essays were also straightforward.
I have a bachelors and masters degree in engineering and currently working in the US (but applying as...
