    Applied AFI - SCREENWRITING - FALL 2023

The application process was okay! I really enjoyed the prompt for the five page screenplay and everything else was fairly straightforward. Had a couple of international student based issues and didn’t receive any reply but managed to figure it out myself.

Denied (w/o Interview) Northwestern Writing for Screen & Stage Fall 2023

Application went well. The requirements are pretty simple, no extra scene prompts or anything. The writer's statement is a bit different than other apps because they ask you to consider a few different questions. It was tricky to include everything and still have it flow well. This program seems...

Northwestern Writing for Screen and Stage 2023

Anyone else applied to this program? I grew up five minutes from the school, and I love it. It's one of the only fully scholarshipped screenwriting programs out there though...so I'm not getting my hopes up lol!

Denied (w/o Interview) Northwestern MFA Writing for Screen and Stage Fall 2023

It's been good. I liked that they allowed you to send multiple excerpts for your writing sample. They are pretty slow about getting back to you if you have any questions, and the application instructions are vague when compared to other schools.

Denied (w/o Interview) AFI Directing Fall 2023

Uploaded required documents to GradCAS and waited. Process of uploaded to GradCAS was easy. Deadline for submission was 1 Dec. Have yet to hear from them.

Waitlisted (After Interview) Columbia Writing for Film and Television MFA

It's been fine. The school has been very responsive to any questions that I have had. I accidentally submitted an older version of my script. It's not the end of the world though. I'm still pretty happy with my application.

Denied (w/o Interview) Columbia Writing for Film & TV - Fall 2023

Application process was a little different than others mainly because they have a unique personal statement prompt, which asks you to describe 1-2 experiences in your life that lead you to writing. I liked the scene prompts this year. Because the program is new this year, I didn't have as much...

Is there a thread or page for Columbia’s new Writing for Film and TV concentration?

Interview Scheduled UNCSA Screenwriting - FALL 2023

The application went pretty smoothly, UNCSA has an early deadline (NOV. 1st.) so you don't have to wait long to hear back from them. The person of contact was quick to reach out and was very helpful in getting me the information and help I needed. A bit different from other film schools I've...

Attending (Admitted After Interview) DePaul University - Screenwriting MFA - Comedy Concentration - Fall 2023

First time applying. If you attend any of DePaul's Jarvis College of Computing and Digital Media information sessions, they waive their application fee. Their fee is the cheapest of any school I've applied to, but I'll take what I can get. The information session and faculty lunch were very...

Admitted (After Interview) NFTS Screenwriting 2023

the application process was easy but be prepared to wait as there are a lot applicants. The interview was fun and easy and the test beforehand was simple and easy to understand.

Attending (Admitted After Interview) NYU Dramatic Writing MFA 2023

Denied (w/o Interview) AFI Screenwriting 2023

Pretty good. I liked that the writing prompt was so broad. I liked what I came up with, and I think that it fit with the overall story I was telling to admissions through my narrative statement and writing sample.

    UT Austin MFA Screenwriting 2023

Anyone applying? I liked that they let you just submit two scripts. It was refreshingly simple compared to some other applications.

Admitted but Not Attending (After Interview) AFI Screenwriting Fall 2023

I actually find the GradCas system a bit complicated and it's hard to do a final check of everything but other than that everything was relatively easy. I like the scene prompts AFI give as they are so broad which is nice.

Waitlisted (After Interview) NYU MFA Dramatic Writing Fall 2023

The only school that didn't ask for extra creative materials but did ask for a full length pilot. They had the option of submitting an additional 30-minute pilot (to total 60 pages all together) which I did do this year, I didn't do this the first time I applied in 2020 and regretted it haha.

Denied (w/o Interview) UT AUSTIN MFA SCREENWRITING 2023

It's been fine. They are a large school, and it can be a little annoying if you have questions about things like transcripts or the program. The program doesn't know anything about the transcripts, and the admissions department doesn't know anything about the program.

Admitted (After Interview) FSU MFA Screenwriting 2023

Paige, the admissions counselor for the College of Motion Picture Arts, has been very communicative. I live in Florida so the in-state tuition would be really nice.

NYU Tisch Dramatic Writing MFA Fall 2023

Apps were due yesterday so I figured I would start a thread so we can chat while we wait for decisions to be made! Who else applied? What kind of script did you submit? I submitted a 30 minute pilot. Good luck to everyone!
