Denied (w/o Interview) UT Austin Screenwriting - 2024

First time I am applying. The application is hassle-free. You put an application on the common Texas website, 'apply Texas'. Once you pay the amount, you can apply through the college website. Again, very simple if you have all the checklist materials.

Waitlisted (w/o Interview) Emerson College - Writing for Film and Television

It was a very easy and straightforward application. If you attend the Zoom AMA's, they will give you a code for a fee waiver at the end. There's an opportunity to apply for a fellowship in the application which I think is pretty cool.

Denied (w/o Interview) Boston University - Screenwriting

The video interview questions at the end were awkward and threw me for a loop. There wasn't enough time to process the question, then answer it succinctly, but outside of that it was a straightforward application.

Attending (Admitted After Interview) Chapman University - Screenwriting

The application process was straightforward, but there were a lot of materials to prepare so make sure you start early, so you can take your time and get all the materials in. I had a lot of fun writing the narrative scene

Waitlisted (After Interview) Columbia University - Film MFA

The application process was straightforward, but there were a lot of materials to prepare so make sure you start early, so you can take your time and get all the materials in. I had a lot of fun writing the narrative scene

Denied (w/o Interview) AFI - Screenwriting

The application process was pretty straightforward, I just had to submit a personal statement, up to 20 page writing sample, and up to 5 page narrative scene.

Attending (Off Waitlist After Interview) NYU Dramatic Writing MFA - Fall 2024

Straightforward. I spent most of my time refining my portfolio and rewriting my submitted feature. Make sure you check for grammatical errors - I must've read my script ten times looking for typos.

Waitlisted (w/o Interview) USC Writing for Screen and TV MFA - Fall 2024

I had fun with the prompts - they feel different and allow SCA insight into who you are. The most challenging aspect is limiting both creative challenges to a single scene, even though I've seen admitted apps where people wrote more than one scene.

Denied (w/o Interview) USC - Writing for Screen and TV 2024

It's so looooong, especially considering the odds (and the fact that maybe they just don't like me since I've fared much better with other schools? lol) I also still don't get why they don't interview people...

Admitted (After Interview) UCLA Screenwriting MFA 2024

I'm now just anxiously playing the waiting game! I would say the interview went okay, I just am trying to hold out hope... Hope anyone who is reading this is doing well!!

    Interviewed NYU Dramatic Writing-2024

The easiest application I’ve had so far. I submitted a hour-long pilot. The statement of purpose was straightforward and two professors wrote my letters of recommendation. I submitted my application on Dec. 3 and I received an interview notification on Feb. 23. Awaiting my final decision.

Applied USC SCA - Writing for Screen and Television (Fall 2024)

The process was difficult but doable. Creative Challenges were the key to the application, and the demands for said challenges were not overwhelmingly difficult. Quality control was the difficult part; making sure my challenges were of the highest quality possible was the most difficult part of...

Waitlisted (After Interview) NYU Dramatic Writing MFA

I was very nervous submitting my application. It was the very first script I wrote and based off of other applications I did, I was expecting them to ask for more! Just one script and one personal statement was way less than I would've guessed. I essentially already had both but NYU was very...

Admitted (After Interview) NYU Dramatic Writing MFA - Fall 2024

It has actually been very simple. NYU was super straightfoward. I submitted my portfolio, which just requested a full-length writing example. I submitted a full-length play, but I also had the option to submit a screenplay or TV pilot. The personal statement was pretty standard, and I was able...

Denied (w/o Interview) NYU Tisch Graduate Film MFA - 2024

NYU was a tough MFA application -- I applied to USC, Columbia, and NYU, and I feel like NYU's app falls squarely in the middle in terms of difficulty. The information sessions I attended were awesome, but the conversations I had with current students in the program were some of the best...

Waitlisted (After Interview) Columbia SOA Directing/Screenwriting MFA - 2024

Columbia was the hardest MFA application out of all the schools I applied to (USC, Columbia, NYU), which also wasn't helped by me applying last minute! The price tag and lengthy application initially deterred me, but the information sessions I attended and the conversations I had with current...

Waitlisted (After Interview) USC SCA Film & TV Production MFA - 2024

USC was the easiest MFA application out of all the schools I applied to (USC, Columbia, NYU), which isn't saying much because it was still hard! I attended several information sessions while crafting my application (virtual and in person) and found it to be extremely helpful and inspiring for...

Denied (w/o Interview) Florida State University MFA Screenwriting - Fall 2024

Very standard and straightforward. They required you to write a few short scripts with prompts that they give, and submit a resume and statement of purpose.
  19. F

Waitlisted (w/o Interview) USC SCA Writing for Screen and Television MFA

I enjoyed the application process, especially the creative challenge scenes, but I wish there were an interview component for the screenwriting concentration.
