AFI Applicants 2025

Still nothing on that available cinematography seat that freed up 2 weeks ago? (Waitlisted for Cinematography btw, hi everyone!)
I knew someone who got off the waitlist on editing and her email says the deposit is due on May 1st. As someone who is also on the waitlist, I wouldn’t carry much hope now… I personally think that it means we weren’t their first choice on the waitlist, or they are happy with the number (like they give out 30 offers but can make do with 29 ppl attending).

How many people do you guys think they accept on the waitlist per specialty? Like 20+?
I’m guessing 20+… As far as I know, there are like 10 Chinese students who got the interview, 3 were waitlisted and 2 were accepted (in directing). So if you count the odds, it should be at least 20 on the waitlist.

So that means it's over I'm guessing....?
Not sure. It's around when they have their first info session every year. Some programs (can't remember if it's AFI as well) people can get off the wait-list the week before class if people drop out last minute.

But it's becoming more likely than not that the wait-list is winding down.
