Hi, I'm also applying to AFI Directing program! Feel free to message me on here if you ever want to talk about the application.
Will do! I am currently preparing shooting my 10 minutes short and attending school at the same time. So I will be very busy, but I will definitely take up your offer~ once I have time!

I highly recommend everyone doing some "light reading" lol and reading through past years application threads. :)

Hi peeps! I'm sure there's more info on past AFI threads, but I wanted to know how this year's applicants are doing.

I'm a little conflicted about how I should budget my topic 5 min film.

I know there's quite an emphasis on the directions about how you can use your phone and production value doesn't matter as long as you tell the story, and so far I've seen it to be relatively true hearing and seeing other people's works, but how are y'all doing in terms of budgeting your shorts?

Not directing but I'll be attending this AFI Zoom:

Should be interesting. I'm also doing an editors guild workshop on Cutting a Dialogue Scene for Picture Editors for fun. The last time I cut a feature was in 2008 (been doing unscripted since then) so this is all fun for me.

There's a zoom this weekend:

Anyone attending?

Currently listening in to this session. :)

Currently listening in to this session. :)
Seminar was very interesting. Wasn't able to watch the beginning as I had Internet issues but most interesting information was workload was sometimes 9am to 11pm or classes starting as early as 7:30am (as they are taught by working showrunners).

That's a longer day than my union real editing job that's for sure. :) But sounds fun as you'd be doing stuff you love. It would be hard to juggle any sort of life outside of AFI.

If you didn't make today's session I highly recommend catching the next. Very informative.

Did anyone go on a tour? If you did, did you take photos? If you did please post a review of the tour with photos (it can be anonymous) to help other applicants:
