What kind of scholarship did you guys get? Dean's?
Dean's for me too. Did any of you get anything about assistantships in your acceptance email?

Congrats!
Thank you! And same to all who were accepted!

Also, not sure if this helps, but in my exchange with them, they told me that in the second year many students get teaching assistantships....not sure if that means that assistantships aren’t available the first year, but perhaps?

what do you mean by assistantship? not sure..
An assistantship is basically an on campus job within the college of communications for graduate students, like being a teaching assistant. I saw online that they automatically consider everyone who applies to the school for them and they'd let you know if you've been awarded one. I wasn't sure if it would come via the acceptance letter or the admission letter so I thought I'd see if anyone else got anything about it in their acceptance letter.

Guys what is your opinion of BU's Screenwriting MFA? Reputation? Faculty? Alumns?
It's not high on my list. I saw you've had interviews at more prestigious schools and I'd suggest putting those above it as far as connections you'd get from attending them as opposed to BU. I personally don't know of any alumni off the top of my head. I went to an info session in like January, and they also have a semester in LA that's optional--which is cool, but also fairly standard for non-LA schools. I'm from the east coast and Boston absolutely doesn't have the type of opportunities that LA and NYC have (this is probably obvious lol). But for writing specifically, there are no shows based in boston to be a WA for or anything like that. So for me I'm trying to think ahead for what school has the best odds for getting me employed in something I actually want to do.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Makes sense!

Anybody in this thread attending the BU program? I accepted their offer but as we get closer I'm having second thoughts...would love to hear from anyone who's going.

Might instead wait another year and make a run at Columbia, but then again I'm not getting any younger (didn't even think I was going to try the grad school thing until after the Columbia application window closed)

I was admitted but ended up declining their offer in the end. They were really accommodating and patient with me as I took time to make my decision. I went to their open house in April and met with who was going to be my personal advisor for a meeting about logistical stuff while I was there. Again, I'm not going but I might have an answer or two. It's a big decision so I get wanting to feel certain about it.

It's very possible we did meet, but I didn't stick around for the whole weekend because I kinda got the sense that it wasn't what I was looking for almost instantly. Yes, I decided on attending the Feirstein School in Brooklyn on the Steiner Studios lot.
