NEED ADVICE: do you think the 2nd individual in the story MUST be human for Columbia MFA film prompt?​

How much can you alter the film prompts for Columbia's MFA Screenwriting application? I am sticking to the main details (time, location, age, relationships) but I want to change a few small details for my individual story, is that ok???

Mainly does the 2nd individual in the story HAS to be human?

Columbia film prompts (2-3pgs):

EXT. AMUSEMENT PARK – NIGHT
Alone in the open cabin of a ferris wheel, the Young Woman is frightened to hear the entire ride screech, then slow to a complete stop. Voices from below shout assurances that the problem will be fixed in a few minutes...but things get even worse when she turns to see the person sitting in the cabin hanging opposite her own.

INT. DEPARTMENT STORE – DAY
As the Teenager scans the clothing racks for something to buy, he’s startled to see what looks like someone hastily stuffing merchandise into their backpack. He looks for a salesperson or a security guard - but just then, the person slips away. He follows.

Just received an interview invite! Clicked the link 3 hours after I received the email, and saw that the interview slots for feb 4th and 11th are full (apparently they do interviews on Wednesdays).So I chose feb 18th. Do you think this is a late date and that it will be a disadvantage for the application? Also I am still completing the financial aid form and didn't finish it yet. Is it also a problem to submit it late or do they evaluate it separately?

Speaking of which the stats have the earliest notification date of 1/30 which is from this cycle so usually they're later. According to this thread @luckylayda received their notification on 1/29 but hasn't logged their application yet this cycle.

Speaking of which, if you haven't logged already, logging your app would be super helpful: there's only 2 for Screenwriting/Directing so far this year. It really helps the whole community (especially with questions like @sunshinerainbow123's about timelines/profiles). The stats page linked above has tons of good historical data on decision dates, GPAs, waitlist info, etc. too.

According to our Columbia Writing for Film & TV acceptance statistics, interview invites have been between February 3 - February 6 and interview dates have been February 13 - March 2.

Remember to log your application if you haven't yet so we can improve this data.

Hey everyone! I literally just got my invite to interview for the Columbia Film MFA program! I was shocked - after seeing the other people on here share they got interviews and most were filled up. Mine will be on Monday Feb 9th at 9am. The interviews available were for Mon Feb 9th from 9am - 3pm and the next Monday Feb 16th those same time slots.

I'm still in shock! I have been more focused on NYU and didn't put as much focus on my Columbia application but maybe that worked to my benefit? Crazy! Good luck to everyone else! Seems like they're still sending out invites.
