Film Editors Portfolio?

The time has come for me to start applying to schools (heading off to Vancouver film school) and im sitting here with no clue at all what to do.

My strengths are in the editing/sound work side of film creation. Not directing and certainly not camera work. How on earth do I make a decent portfolio when I cant do two very necessary parts of film creation. Theres only so much I can do with the crappy footage I'd make. Just because I could reform it to look like a gold covered piece of dung doesn't make it any less crap.

You're applying to Vancouver Film School as an Undergrad? I didn't know that they required portfolios.

I wouldn't doubt your shooting abilities too quickly... editors sometimes make great directors because they know what they need in the editing bay. Practice makes perfect as they say...

Also try teaming up with some friends or acquaintances and see if they want to help you shoot some stuff.
