Yes, you can make a good movie for $200k, just like you can make a good movie for $10k or $1.

The more money, the better, as long as you have skill to begin with.

That said, there's no way you're going to see a penny from the gross. First time directors never make a cent on their films.


the budget of a film doesnt make it good. There are many great films that were made with budgets less than $200 000, but just because a movie can be made for this kind of money doesn't mean it will be good. That is why people go to film school... to try and make themselves better filmmakers.
