Congrats!!!
Based on the conversation with Paige at admissions it sounds like they will continue to send acceptances through March. Really wishing the best for you guys who are still waiting for a response!! Fingers crossed!Congrats... it must be great news for you.
Oh my gosh!!! Congratulations!!!!!Got my acceptance phone call today and I could not be more thrilled!! Has anyone else heard back?
'Have you called the school or received an email for the decision?
I emailed the school... that is response;
"We had close to 200 applications and 90 were selected for interviews. The committee is still in the interview process and decisions should come out before the end of the month."
I think it's 24 production students and 6 screenwriting studentsHey, thank you for sharing! I also interviewed with the committee on 3rd of the March. I wonder how many people do they accept the program. Does anyone know?
I actually believe it's 8 screenwriting studentsI think it's 24 production students and 6 screenwriting students
Thank you for the updates! Would be grateful anymore information you learnSome things I learned so far. I hope this helps someone make their decision as we get closer to the end of this
- Faculty casts the actors for student films-- I believe it's just the first short you create. They partner with the acting school and apparently sometimes create some controversy because they give no regard to the race or gender of your characters I'm gonna double check tomorrow and make sure it's just the first film though.
- Financial aid in the form of an assistantship during the first year is unlikely because you'll be too busy and they can't justify giving you the money if you're too busy to actually work for it (if that makes sense) I will chat with them more tomorrow to see what kind of aid they do offer. I was told not to worry too much about paying for it from a current student but I'm still gonna ask my questions
Hey, it went okay . . . ? One of the interviewers was a little intense but I found out from a current student that he's not really anybody's favorite lol. Maybe that's the guy everyone else was having a hard time with? He asked me weird questions and dug in really deep on things that didn't seem really necessary to me. But in any case I survived.@Johnella18, how did the interview go?
Thank you for sharing! That information is really insightful for someone who wouldn't make it out to campus unless I got admitted and ended up going there. Also good to know that the intense interviewer seems to be an outlier.Hey, it went okay . . . ? The college (of motion picture arts) is a lot smaller than I anticipated. We got a tour after the interview and idk maybe because it's the only film school I've actually seen in person, but it seemed really small.
Everyone was super friendly, except the professor who shall not be named lol, and we got to see some student work that was inspiring. They are also very demanding professors which is nice. They really push their students and want them to be great. I really liked that.
All in all I think FSU is a great option but just understand that afterwards you will have to either go to LA or New York. Apparently nobody stays after graduation because there's no work in Florida. And while you're there you'll basically be living in the film school bubble. There's not much to do, it's very quiet, very much a southern hometown feeling (which I'm used to by growing up in a small Louisiana town). This could be a pro or con depending on the person.
