life after tisch

after graduating at nyu with a major in film, where does one go to work? pa on a set in ny? la? please tell me about what most people do after graduating... i want to be secure financially.

If you're good at something, you will find work. The name on the resume gets you the interview, and the quality of your reel and who you know gets you the job. It seems like any skilled grad won't have trouble making a decent pay.

how much do NYU jobs pay for students working to apy off their tutition? my dad is trying to get fafsa special circumstances b/c he lost his job but im wondering how much ill be able to contribute, and how hard the jobs they offer will be, how time consuming, etc.

I’ve been in the industry for 7+ years producing and directing. You make your own success. Don’t rely on any institution to place you in a job. Make friends, build mentor relationships, work hard, be good at what you do, take care of your friends and don’t be a dick...it’ll happen. But expecting something from the career office of any school is a surefire way to end up not working.

I know Tisch grads who are in writers rooms, have Netflix deals, and are directing their own films. I also know Tisch grads who are living in their parents’ basement. It’s less about what the school gives you and more about the action that you take. How badly do you want it?

TBH I bet most Tisch grads dont make back the cost of tuition with jobs in the arts
