I also got an interview request for the Writing and Producing for TV program a few days ago. I was wondering if anyone knows what to expect for the interview. I just want to be prepared.

I have my interview tomorrow for screenwriting, I'm just imagining the usual "why this school, tell us about yourself, etc" but I'm not over-stressing it. Preparing and memorizing are only going to get me so far and won't help me giving authentic and personable answers.

Just got an interview request for Directing today! Scheduled for 2/12. Exciting!!
Awesome congrats! Be sure to update your application in our database if you haven't already with the date info and application status! :)

Everyone be sure to log yours if you haven't already. It's really helpful to people.

Could you please tell me is there any precedent for admission to LMU's MFA in Film Production without an interview?

Hi everyone! I have my interview tomorrow and I'm just wondering for those of you who have interviewed with LMU already - what was it like? Was it with just one person, or a panel of people? What kinds of questions did they ask?

I'm prepping for it today and tomorrow so just curious what your experiences have been. Everyone always says these things are super "conversational" but that was not my experience with another school interview that I did a few weeks ago, it was pretty intense actually, so I'm wondering if LMU will be the same lol. Any insights you can share would be much appreciated!! Thank you in advance!

Mine was with the grad director of screenwriting Weiko and an assistant professor. They asked many of the usual questions you might expect from why Loyola, what inspires you, et cetera. I made the mistake of preparing too much and in my first response sounded like a fool stumbling over my words, but I caught myself and the rest of it went golden. It is conversational if you let it be.

It would be really helpful if you could share the questions and process.

It started with us three casually chatting for about a minute and introducing each other. They take the reins of the interview and begin with introducing Loyola and asked these questions (that i remember):
1) Why Loyola?
2) What inspires you as a writer?
3) What do you like to do outside of writing?
4) In our workshop setting, people come with a bunch of experiences, good grades and all kids of merits. Can you speak on that? (this question was pitched in a tone which shows that these experiences, merits, etc might be hurdles in the creative process for some -i.e. getting off their high horse)
5) Specific questions regarding my sample, and my experience as a playwright.

At the end, I got to ask questions. It was very free-flowing. The interview lasted about a half an hour.

DON'T FORGET. SEND YOUR THANK-YOU EMAILS!

Had my interview today for the film and TV production program today. I think it went decently for me, though I do wish I had gone a bit more in-depth with my questions. However, I did at least come prepared with plenty of questions and ended up asking twice as many questions as they asked me. But I felt I was maybe talking a bit too fast, but they never asked me to clarify once, so I think I'm good there.

Was about 15 or so minutes. They asked me about 5 questions

1. Why LMU
2. What aspect of film production do I enjoy the most
3. What inspires me creatively
4. Am I a collaborative person that can fit into a progressive/activist environment
5. What do I enjoy outside film making/watching

I felt I could have gone a bit more in-depth with some of these questions, but for 2 and 4 I think I gave good answers. I mentioned how I enjoyed editing and directing the most and directed 9 different student films at my university and how I was a member of my university's student government, serving as the Senator of Clubs & organizations during my final year before graduation.

Should also be noted, that I had 11 questions to ask them and was able to ask all of them. Not sure if that is a good look for me or not though.

I attended the Open House on Tuesday and they said decisions will roll around late March to early April. I'm hoping that means in the next two to three business weeks. Good luck to everyone!
I just emailed them asking when to expect; the march-april dates were for the next year's application cycle I believe.
