Hey!

I haven't seen a thread on LMU yet but I've seen that a few of you are applying. I applied for TV Writing & Producing for this coming school year. What about you all?

I already posted this on a more general thread but figured I'd post again in here because it's more relevant:

I'm a first year production student at LMU so if any of y'all have any questions or anything, let me know!

Best of luck to you all and I hope to see some of you guys here next Fall!

Wow. Are you in your first year of MFA production? How is this school? Did you have an interview before you got accepted? When did you get accepted last year? I am sorry to ask so many questions. I am just nervous and curious about many things.

Hey there! Yep, first year in the MFA production track. I'm really enjoying my time here! Good professors, talented students, great equipment (better cameras than USC for example...I have a friend who goes to USC and from everything he's been telling me, I think I prefer LMU's model but I digress haha). It's also a small program which is awesome...you get to know pretty much every production student in the years above you as well, which you just don't get much of at other programs.

I believe I found out about my acceptance in mid- to late- February last year but I found out by logging into my.lmu.edu account before receiving an email from the school. No interview.

Don't be sorry for asking questions! I'm more than happy to answer any you may have...let me know if any other questions come to mind!

Yiding_GoFighting I haven't heard anything yet but I keep checking. My status is still 'Referred' but hopefully, we will be hearing soon. :)

Also I had a question, does the program help with finding good internship/writer's pa/assistant jobs?

Yeah, LMU has an Entertainment Internship Program to help students find internships, including internships specialists you can meet with. I know WPTV students have had success finding good internships.

Wow! I don't know what to say. Thank you so much for sharing your experience! Do you guys get to focus on certain aspect of production there? I mean do u learn and practice filmmaking in a general way(learn cinematography, editing, directing etc all together) or in a specific way (you can focus on one aspect)? Thanks again! You r so generous and helpful!

Our first year, we have set schedules. First semester, we take production, cinematography, editing and screenwriting. Second semester, we take production, sound, pre-production and either screenwriting (writing for your second year project) or documentary pre-production (if you want to make a documentary your second year). I'm in documentary pre-production.

Second and third years, we can take electives in whatever areas you want to focus in. Directing actors, more screenwriting classes, advanced editing, advanced cinematography, more sound courses, etc.

Got it. Thank you so much! I hope i could get in. Haven't heard anything yet. My little heart…can't bear the nervousness

UCLA Production/directing, USC production, chapman production editing, and FSU production. But FSU hasn't sent me any interview notifications, so i guess it rejected me already. :(

FSU can take a very long time to send out admission decisions, etc. I got accepted after every other school already sent out their admission decisions.
