How to Get Into NFTS, the #1 International Film School: Exclusive Advice From the Admissions Department (Part 1)

There is no other film school in the United Kingdom more notable than the National Film and Television School (NFTS), an institution renowned for producing high-profile industry players and Oscar winners since 1971. Based in Beaconsfield, a short 25 minute train journey from central London, NFTS...

Hello!! I was wondering how much people are writing for the 250/150 word questions. Are you filling up the word count to the best of your ability? With some of them I'm quite a bit under the maximum word count and feel as though I should be filling it up, but I also really don't want to waffle/say anything unnecessary.

I try not to worry too much about meeting the word count, I think it's pointless to add unnecessary information just to try and hit it. Some of my answers have hit the maximum but others are 50 or so words under.

Hey guys! Wishing you all good luck! @tibicen what was your interview like in 2020, did they give you feedback?
Hi! The interview was primarily focused on the screenplay I had submitted: they had clearly read it in-depth and had a lot of interesting and challenging questions for me asking why I'd made some choices and not others, what my intent was behind X and Y, etc. There was additionally a pre-interview test where I had to write a new one-page treatment in 30 minutes based on a choice of some images they sent me for inspiration, and then I pitched that in the interview. I was sent some nice feedback with the rejection, but nothing specific or focused, just a polite encouragement to keep writing.

Application in! Just got an offer for LFS and trying to decide what to do now...wish the application deadlines for both schools weren't so far apart

Got the email about my application being processed for the selection panel and it scared the hell out of me even though I was expecting it lol I'm sweating now

I also got the email about the application being processed for the selection panel. Does anyone know how long the application process takes ? And does one get selected immediately after the Interview?

Looking at last years stats (Waves at Chris W, kudos mister!) interview invites went out June 28th, rejections went out July 4th, and interviews happened on July 13th. Cant see any accepted dates. Get comfy, it's gonna be a long ride. And no telling if it'll be the same. The page count for them to read is less this year - 20 pages reduced to 12 so things might happen sooner. Who knows.

And what about the questions in the interview? I saw an answer regarding this topic but that experience is from 2020. They have even changed the application requirements. And what kind of pictures do they show you in the interview? Are they paintings from old painters or photographs? Has anybody so far received an interview call?

I've never had an interview before but I think there's usually a task, which they change every year.

I don't suspect we'll hear until the end of this month / start of next. I am feeling so nervous, good lord!
