NYU Tisch Graduate Film 2024 - Who's applying?

I think there are some in the past acceptances statistics that Chris posted -- if you thumb through old logged applications
For some programs yes... But it doesn't appear any are logged for graduate film. See link below. You can filter by program.

Thanks for sharing - after searching I saw that all admits were after an interview, so looks like that seems to be a required step if one were to be admitted. I'm holding out hope that I get a request to interview in my inbox soon 🤞🏻🥲

These days the whole country is celebrating the Chinese New Year, but I just feel so anxious and nervous about my application. For those who got interview requests, when you submitted your application? I just would like to know what criteria they send interview requests based on, is it alphabet or submission date...

Hi there, I was lurking in the shadows but I saw your message and thought of providing my grain of salt. I've watched most of the NYU Grad Film posts and some of them I've reread multiple times. I've come up with some conclusions after that and I want to share them with you and see if they give you a little hope (it works for me, I haven't received an interview notification either).

So, according to past years, they ALWAYS send the interviews on two different dates. Usually, one on Friday and then continuing on Monday (because they don't work on weekends). But last year and some other year they started mid-week. Last year, they started on Tuesday (the 7th) and finished on Wednesday (8th).

Here's the thing, according to that pattern they should've sent the rest of the applications on Tuesday this week, but I think they haven't. I don't have any evidence, but I find it weird that NOT ONE PERSON said that they received an invitation on Tuesday. Seeing that they were looking at some short films on the 28th-29th of January, and they sent the first interviews so early, maybe they're waiting to end this week, or send the rest next Monday. But that's just me guessing according to what I've read.

Or maybe it could be possible that they decided to send all of their invitations on one date for once, but I don't want to believe that, so I won't.

Anyway, sorry for my long answer but I really wanted to ease your mind and anyone who's feeling like that. I know it's hard, but, let's keep a little hope! :)

Thank you for your honesty and kind words, it’s really nice. I have sent them an email to inquiry these things, and Courtney told me that the email invitations are sent on a rolling basis throughout mid March. But according to the statistics, the results of admissions will be sent at that time… I hold the hope too.

After reviewing NYU's threads from the past four years, I noticed that many people refer to the rolling basis for interview invitations, as mentioned by Courtney. HOWEVER, this doesn't seem to be the case. As isabelias pointed out, the interviews are typically sent out in two separate batches, sometimes on consecutive days and sometimes a week apart. I'm particularly hopeful that someone on this forum can confirm receiving their interview invitation after Monday. This way, the rest of us can just move on other programs.

The only thing I'd say about this is the information from past years on this forum is an incomplete set of data. We have no way of knowing when every single interview request goes out because not every person who receives one is going to be active here. So if NYU says that interview invitations are sent out on a rolling basis then I'm inclined to believe that, even if the bulk of them might be sent out over one or two days.

Greetings! I applied to NYU for an MA in Cinema Studies. My target school is UT Austin but I dream of living in NYC. I intend to get my MA and PhD so I can teach film history at a university. I noticed this community is centered mostly around MFA candidates. It’s tough to find forums for those applying for film studies programs. Any suggestions?
