Hello, everyone! I'm new here. I had been roaming for quite awhile, but finally decided to make an account.
I once saw a quote on here that said, "You don't go to film school because you like film, you go to film school because you HAVE to."
I kind of relate to that. I had a passion for film since before I can remember. However, I have NO experience beyond making two very short, immature "videos" (won't even call them films) in high school for a creative writing class.
When I see all the credentials everyone else has, I really feel like they all have a leg up. I have completed my AA degree at a community college down here in Miami. I come from a family is that on the lower end of the middle class. I know film school is very expensive, even with financial aid.
My question is, for people who have graduated... honestly, and realistically, how "plausible" is it for one to find sustainable work after school? Listen, we all love film, and we would all be hard-pressed to live without it. But, the reality of our world is that money makes it go round. I could care less about money, but I at least want to be able to survive...you know?
Sucks....I was thinking about going to FSU's Animation program in South Florida, since it's near my house.
