I also applied to USC, UCLA, and LMU. I have my UCLA interview in exactly a week. What types of films/tv do you write / want to write?

I have an interview with UCLA next week also.

No word from other programs I applied to yet. I have a feeling that means a waitlist or rejection from UT Austin. Michener won't say a peep until probably March. Northwestern redid their admissions process for this year so I have no clue what to think about them this year.

I am trying to distract myself (other scripts), but yes, I want to know now!

PS I was at BU's Boston campus from '13 to '16! Maybe I've seen you around. I was in the COM building a lot :p

Applied to USC and Northwestern. No word yet -- the wait is both thrilling and frightful... but exciting.... and scary!... still pretty fun... or emotionally scarring.

I love seeing the forums get active again this time of year! If you're new, check out the link below to our application spreadsheet. You can see who else has applied where and if they've heard anything. There's a sticky at the top of the Grad School section with links to the last two years so you can use that as a resource too.

    Good luck everyone!

I was an undergrad studying International Relations and Film & TV. I see you had a BS in Biology. How did you go from biology to journalism, and then screenwriting?

The Big Four + LMU for me (I'm a very confident boy). Hoping to get some traction soon before I start screaming into a pillow.

Also I see @Kira has found another Terrier in @Chris K. And here I was thinking my fellow BC people were everywhere, now I'm outnumbered.

Just had UCLA interview. Went well.

Movies that I love (I want to write stories like these):

    Apocalypse Now
    The Thin Red Line
    Requiem for a dream
    Terms of Endearment
    The Godfather
    Casino
    Mean Streets
    American Beauty
    Prisoners
    The Insider
    The Maltese Falcon
    Chinatown
    The Descendants
    Nebraska
    The Verdict
    12 Angry Men
    Terminator
    The Lion King
    Heat

What about you? What kind of movies/TV do you want to write

Yeah, no word from Tisch yet for me either. But Chapman/LMU/USC also have not got back yet, so I guess there's time.

YUP. I want to prepare but not over prepare and I keep googling "MFA Screenwriting Interview Tips" like it's going to give me magic answers.

The UCLA interview was really chilled. Casual conversation: What are your career goals, what kind of stories/themes will you write, what are your hobbies.

Judging by the data from previous years, Tisch will start rolling emails to film applicants around Feb. 10 or 12. So we're only two and a half minutes to midnight ;)

If you were studying film/tv, it's possible we've actually met. I took two electives in the film department last Spring: French New Wave and Documentary, both with Charles Warren. Ring a bell?

It's too complicated to explain here, but suffice it to say it makes perfect sense despite appearances.

    BU's overrated anyway :D

Haha yes and @Chris W is also a BU grad! There are many of us.

    Who was your interviewer?
Some of my favorite shows are Hannibal, Sherlock, The Night Manager, Peaky Blinders, Sense8, and the 3%. I enjoy a blend of crime / fantasy / historical. My favorite films are similar: Inception, The Dark Knight, The Imitation Game, Spotlight, etc.

I did not take those classes, but Writing the Episodic Drama and Lady Avengers :p I was in the building a lot though! Haha if you say so. My transition from international relations to screenwriting was also seamless.

BU in the house! I think BU's rankings and whatnot are going higher? Good news for recent grads like myself haha.

For all you screenwriters "patiently" waiting to hear back or apply... there's a fun screenwriting game I started a while back here:

    SCREENWRITING GAME 01 - Nick & Sally

Feel free to add to it or heck start your own new screenwriting game in that forum if Zombie flicks aren't your thing. :)
