Hi everyone — I'm pursuing a BA in Film and Media Studies at Columbia University.

This year—2023—I'm applying to the Stanford MFA Documentary Film and Video program, for the 2024-2026 cycle. I'm trying to get feedback on the Stanford MFA Documentary program application, but it feels like, once admitted, students sign an NDA or something! It's so hush-hush! Please reach out if you know anything about the application process and can share. I want to learn more about the SOP, how to approach it, and what you think the MFA Doc Film dept wants to know. Also, how the interviews went, how it's set up, and your recommendations!

Many thanks!

Hi nydoc! I go to Barnard, also pursuing a BA in Film Studies, and while I still have a long way to go, am also interested in pursuing an MFA at Stanford. Did you end up getting in?? I wonder if they care enough about gpa... mine is not looking too hot rn but I am in the works of directing a feature documentary here at Columbia so I wonder if that will matter a lot more than the grades.
