Thinking About Film School? Ask a Peter Stark Producing Grad Anything

Hi everyone,

I'm Thomas Xie, and I’ve spent the last 10 years in the film industry, producing 6 feature films and over 200 episodes of TV across the US, China, and France. Currently, I work in Business Affairs at Sony Pictures Animation.

After completing the Peter Stark Producing Program—the top producing program in the world—and connecting with many alumni, I’ve realized that while an MFA can be valuable, it no longer opens as many doors as it once did. The cost and commitment often don’t align with today’s film industry, and for many aspiring filmmakers, the investment may not be worth it.

That’s why I’m here to help! If you’re considering film school or want to learn how to break into the industry without an MFA, ask me anything.

I’ve also launched a community for filmmakers to network, learn, and connect directly with me. I offer application guidance, resume and pitching workshops, and coaching on budgeting, financing, distribution, job searching, and more. Membership is free for now, but I’ll be charging soon. The first few members can join for free, for life as "founding members." If you're interested, join here:

Looking forward to connecting and helping however I can!
