UCLA Directing MFA Fall 2024

Congrats everyone who's received interview notifications! (And don't give up if you haven't)

Be sure to log that information on your application on the site to help people in future years. Remember logging an application is just entering dates and some info. Very helpful to people. :)

Good luck on your interviews!

I got an interview notification! Check your spam everyone! It’s scheduled for March 2nd

I don’t think they’ll make us share our screen, seems like it’s just talking. Now I just have to figure out what to pitch. Does everyone already have their ideas down?

I submitted my FAFSA back in January but I actually got an email last week that said they wouldn’t be sending information to schools until March. With all the revamping they’ve done this year I think their system just got really messed up and now they keep pushing back deadlines. It’s frustrating but the good news is if you haven’t submitted yet you’re technically not behind in the process lol.

Just got another email update:

“The interview will give you the opportunity to update the committee on your activities since submitting your written application late last year. The atmosphere is intended to be casual so you can share your views on filmmaking and your creative journey. Please come ready for an engaging conversation.”

I’m nervous and excited at the same time!

I have my idea, but I am struggling a bit with how to present it. When I talked through each beat, I hadn't even gotten through a quarter of the story and it was already 1.5 mins long 😑 I'm not sure if it's supposed to be as if I were telling a friend a film idea, or if there needs to be some showmanship/more professional presentation vibe. Does anyone have thoughts or suggestions? I would appreciate any guidance!
