Hi all,

I am looking at the UCLA MFA Producer Program requirement and I have two questions, and I need some help:

1. Resume:
I am a Fulbright Finalist and already sent IIE my resume, which is a standard one with only words and paragraphs. I wonder if I should design another version of the resume for the school application round that is more appealing, or I don't know, maybe more colorful.

2. Treatment:
The application requires 02 three-page Treatments for either Feature Film or Television. I don't know how detailed I should prepare because we need more than that for a movie treatment. I am thinking about one page for the synopsis, one for the main characters, and one for other information like references, mood & tone, location, etc. Or should it be 3 pages only for a full storyline? I would love to hear about your experience with this.

Thank you. 🌻

Hey Tra,

A one-page professional resume is the way to go. It doesn't need to be colorful. For the treatment you should have:
  • logline
  • summary of the concept (theme, tone, world, background info)
  • main characters (brief summary of their arcs)
  • synopsis (paint a picture of how the story starts and where it's heading)
  • epilogue (how the story ends, where the characters end up, did they learn anything etc, state of the world)

Hope this helps, good luck!

Thank you a lot Tydx! I got the picture now.

Hi!

I am applying for the UCLA Producer's Program and I am unsure of the specific formatting for the personal essays and the treatments. I know the supplemental materials says double spaced but im unsure if I should have a double spaced resume and treatments or have a single spaced one like normal? I also have no idea what the word count, formatting, or page count should be for the two personal essays.
I apologize if these are silly questions and I lack basic reading comprehension. I believe I am just really nervous and overthinking everything, but I also want everything to be right.
Thank you so much for any help!
