Urgent need for an advice (1 Viewer)

I'm looking to apply for Mfa film production / filmmaking programs. My predominant aim is to become a director. I have a background in stem degree in film engineering but no real background in creating short films or creative portfolios . My first question is - do I need to apply for bfa programs considering I already have a 4 year bachelor's degree or straight dive into mfa with no prior experience in filmmaking. I have contacted some universities and they say it is better to go for mfa considering they are open for applicants with all levels of experience, but I want to hear a person who has gone through this and not a university counsellor. Secondly, I'm an international student with relatively miniscule funds but wants to become a director. What are some good programs I should consider. I'm ready to go to community colleges. And lastly, please share an updated list of colleges in 2020 that doesn't require creative portfolio but their film programs and good and relatively inexpensive. San francisco state university is one. I need to know more. My predominant aim are usa schools cause I want to pursue professional filmmaking career in hollywood.
