USC MFA - Film and Television Production - Fall 2025

Has anyone applied for scholarships or are you guys waiting for an acceptance letter?
I wrote 2 essays for 2 of the 3 sections of the USC app I was qualified to apply for, but I’m waiting to find out if I got in to apply to any other USC/non-USC ones. I’m trying to collect a list of them I want to apply to if/when that happens, though. Hbu?

I have no idea what to apply for their scholarship portal was so confusing I haven’t had time to look further into it ugh. I’ll definitely try to look more today. I did all three essays in the app so far so I guess I’ll stick with those for now!

We definitely need to beef up our scholarship section. If anyone comes across any good ones feel free to add them to the scholarship database.

Yeah, the
Scholarship portal is super dense and it seems like a lot of them will hit their deadlines before we even hear if we got in or not, but maybe they’ll have new deadlines for new students after admissions roll out?

AFI had a list of private scholarships unrelated to any school that I assume will also work for USC, they just aren’t in the portal. I’m gonna try and do some digging on it all as well

Ok lmk what you find and I will do the same!!

Alright everyone, given the 10+ years of data on this site, we are officially in the 2 week window of being notified about acceptances. 7 of the 10 years had them released between 2/24-2/28, yet last year had them released on 2/20. Waitlist notifications seem to come out exactly a week after the acceptances, and rejections seem to come out a week after the waitlists.

It also seems like international students have historically gotten their acceptance notifications about 1-2 days before domestic students, so if you’re a domestic student and see an international student posting and saying that they got in, it doesn’t mean you didn’t. I means yours may be coming out in the next day or two.

Good luck to everyone, hope we all have a reason to celebrate at some point in the next 2 weeks!

No, from previous years it seems like International is notified a day before domestic. It seems to be the trend from everything I’ve read
Oh no I was talking about waitlists and rejections they don’t send those the same day as the acceptance?

No, they’re sent out separately according to the previous years.

Acceptances

Waitlisted

Omg. So if you get a change on your application notification on a certain day it’s basically guaranteed what the answer will be (for previous years at least)

Yeah, so if you don’t get in with the acceptances, you are a coin flip at that point. If you don’t get in when the waitlists go out, you know your fate. I guess the only good thing is knowing they will send out each category all at once e within a 1-2 day mass email, but we’ll know where we stand once the international and domestic have been notified and we aren’t one of them with each wave of notifications

Wait why does this make me more nervous😭😭

I'm late to the discussion but I had an interview with Ms. Gail Katz. She asked about my interests and how I handled stress as well. Did anyone else get an interview with her?
