USC MFA - Film and Television Production - Fall 2025

I'm late to the discussion but I had an interview with Ms. Gail Katz. She asked about my interests and how I handled stress as well. Did anyone else get an interview with her?
Welcome! When did you have your interview? I didn’t have mine with her, but it sounds like you had a good experience

Hey! It was Jan 25th, she emailed me and I got back with her immediately and we had our interview the same day. She asked about my dialogue scene which involved a basketball player and then we got to talking about basketball.

Nice, that sounds like a fun one! Yeah, the interviews seem to be incredibly casual regardless of who the interviewer is, so it's nice to hear that seems to continue to be the case. Hopefully we find out if we got in soon and we can all celebrate

Hopefully everyone gets in! Gail did mention to me that the notices would go out March 1st. So maybe sometime next week!

Oh lord, I may go literally insane if I have to wait until then at this point lol - I’m hoping they come out at the end of this week/early next week 🤞

Last year had them as early as 2/20, but they mostly seem to come out around the 24-28

A bit worried cause mine doesn’t look like yours. Idk if that’s a sign I got rejected:/
The financial aid thing?? No I don’t think so, if you’re getting an error it may mean you need to contact the admissions or financial aid office and they have to manually enter your info.

@abtfilms may be able to guide you on that, they had to do it

Thank you! I’ll give them a call.
So I did call them and they said the process does not start until admission so nothing will be there until you are admitted or they are starting the process of admission. Now idk how true it is I’m pretty sure I was talking to a student lol but calling them definitely won’t hurt.

@MaxNoble let us know what they say, it will be inserting to get 2 different points of data on this

Hey, guys. I’m an international student. I’m in wait-list.
You received a decision? Congrats on being wait-listed! That's guaranteed spring admission right?

Be sure to update your application with the info and select "post as update" when saving so people are notified and it goes to the top.

I don’t understand 🥲,
If they guarantee admission for the spring, then that is certainly fantastic, but I don’t fully understand it.

I'm pretty sure USC production if you're wait-listed then you're guaranteed admission in the spring. In the past they've said this in the wait-list notification.

Correct. @TianaZ you could still start in the Fall assuming people who got admitted and not waitlisted opted not to attend USC (financial reasons, personal reasons, whatever it may be) and a spot opens up for you. However, if a spot doesn't open up for the fall, USC is telling you that you will automatically gain admission to USC for Spring. Either way, you're accepted!
