USC MFA – Film and Television Production – Fall 2026

Hi everyone!

Is anyone else planning to apply for the Fall 2026 intake of the USC MFA in Film and Television Production?

I'm from Chile and would really appreciate any tips or advice from those who have gone through the process—or anyone else applying this year.

Thanks in advance!

Good luck! Thanks for starting this thread early in the application process. More people will be able to find it that way. :)

Here's our stats for the program from the applications logged in our database. Don't forget to log yours once you apply.

As always be sure to browse through previous year's application threads for other tidbit of information:

Good luck!

I'm purposely skipping applying MFA Spring 26' because I want to make sure I have everything right. I was rejected for Fall 2025 Production MFA so I'm hoping Fall 2026 will be the year I get in.

Hi! I also applied to the Film and Television Production MFA program. I received an interview invite on 12/16 and interviewed on 12/19. Overall, I think it went well, and they seemed to genuinely enjoy talking with me, especially since they mentioned that at the end. That said, I’m still not sure how to interpret it, as my interviewer noted that the interview itself isn’t necessarily indicative of whether I’ll be admitted.

I’m happy for you! Hopefully having had the interview is a good sign. In my case, I still haven’t heard anything at all. I’m feeling pretty anxious while waiting for some news.

I had an interview as well. Who interviewed you?

I’ll be interviewed as well! I’m set to talk with Professor John Watson on Saturday.

Any recommendations or advice would be appreciated.
Check out previous year's threads. A lot of people report back on their experiences.

Does anyone know when they'll notify for decisions? I've heard around march but not sure when during that month
According to our stats earliest decision has been in February:

I didn’t receive an email to check whether everything was okay, but I did receive one a few days after submitting my application stating that some documents were missing. I sent everything that was requested in response to that email, and they replied confirming that everything was now in order.

I’m not sure how official transcripts work in your system, but in Chile they are issued directly by the university where you obtained your degree, and in some cases, a fee is required to request them.

I will send another email just to double-check that all my documents are in order.

Do I only need to give my UDC ID and this email, etrans@usc.edu, to the admin of my university?
