Hey everyone! I'm new here AND new to applying to film school. I have a BA in Dance, Masters in Dance Science (CSUF & CSUN), and a teacher credential. About 5 years ago I began my career change from teaching dance in schools to acting/filmmaking. I've started my Application for USC and am kinda nervous.

Do they accept applicants who haven't gone to film school and have limited filmmaking experience? Also are there resources around that can help with the essay portion? People that can look at it and critique it?

Hi! I'm also applying to the Peter Stark Producing Program this year. Joining this thread so we can form a little community here, always helps to know you're not alone 🫡

Hey everyone,

I'm a Stark alum, and I've started a group to help people figure out if film school (and the Stark program specifically) is the right fit for them. I'm inviting the first few members to join for free, for life, as "founding members." If you're interested, join here: www.skool.com/debtless-film-school-6628. The goal of the group is to provide all the information I wish I had before committing to such an expensive program, help people expand their networks, and teach the skills needed to thrive in the industry.

Don’t get me wrong, Stark is a great program under the right circumstances. However, I’ve seen too many talented people struggle after the program—either because it wasn’t the right fit, they couldn’t handle the financial strain, or they didn’t make the most of their time there. I want to help as many of you achieve your goals as possible. This industry is already hard enough, and not enough people are being transparent about what a program like this can or can't do for you.

I’ve started an AMA thread—feel free to ask me anything there! If you want to talk more in-depth about your circumstances, goals, whether Stark is worth it for you, or even get feedback on your application, join the group and I'd be happy to help.

Whatever path you choose, just know I’m rooting for you! I understand how nerve-wracking this process can be, but trust that you'll find the right direction for your future.

Hi everyone! Happy to join this thread. I have applied to application and now waiting for the interview notification. Does anyone know about the dates when they send out emails?
