NYU Tisch Graduate Film 2024 - Who's applying?

I was waitlisted! I’m pretty sure I’ll be declining my waitlist position, partly because of my interview experience and because I feel like they weren’t honest with me about deferring from my acceptance last year (that’s a whole other story in itself), but mainly because the big scholarship body that is funding me requires me to commit to somewhere with an acceptance by the end of April and last year nobody got off of the waitlist before the fall at all, and I’d rather take the scholarship and go somewhere else than risk not going at all!

Just got my decision notification. Rejected. It's okay - I kind of knew it when I didn't get an interview. I got accepted to USC though, so I'm still extremely happy. I tried my best and threw my hat into the ring for NYU and I'm proud of myself for that. I would still recommend anyone in the future who is contemplating applying to film school...if it's your dream - do it. Apply. You'll never regret trying.

Long time a lurker, first time poster. Also was waitlisted after the interview. Created an account to add to the Application Database/ add a comment here for future applicants. This forum helped me get through this process over the last few months, so I wanted to pay it forward.

For those nervous about applying if you're passionate about it, just go for it. No harm. This was the only program I applied to mostly b/c even though I'm a creative professional, I have zero background in film. My visual submissions were photos I took 10 years ago. I echo another member: you'll never regret trying.

Congrats to those who got in and to those who didn't, but got in elsewhere!

Just got rejected! Currently waitlisted at USC and waiting to hear back from one more program. Crossing my fingers I get accepted to my final school -- congratulations to everyone who got in! ❤️

Congrats to everyone who was accepted! Also wanted to pop on here and say that this is my fourth time going through the film school application ringer and, after having experienced quite a number of rejections and becoming somewhat of an expert, I wanted to share some remedies that have gotten me through the tough times.

“A real loser is somebody that’s so afraid of not winning, they don’t even try.”

It’s my favorite quote from one of my fave movies (Little Miss Sunshine) and I highly recommend everyone to go and watch it if you haven’t yet. Hearing Alan Arkin say “Now you’re trying, right?” does wonders to ease the pain.

All this to say that it’s very easy to focus on the failure and forget you had the courage. I know myself that I’ve wanted to throw in the towel after some years, but then I wouldn’t have made it to this year where I finally got to the interview stage with some schools and am hoping to hear back some good news.

Don’t forget why you started and don’t forget where you’re going. Don’t forget that you’re brave as hell for pursuing your dreams. And don’t forget to watch little miss sunshine currently streaming on Hulu 😉

But congrats to your app for USC though! The wl can just be regarded as an admission to Spring 2025 right?
