Starting this thread for community and questions as we play the waiting game. There doesn't seem to be many of us Chapman folks so this thread is for applicants to all of the MFA programs in the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts. I think someone did create one specifically for applicants to the screenwriting MFA program. I personally applied to the Television Writing and Producing program.

Good luck!

Hello everyone! Just had a quick question about the application. If the admissions committee feel as if you are a better fit for your second choice of specialty than your first choice, is it more likely that you'll be considered for the second choice over the first? My first choice was Directing but I put Editing as my second choice.

Great question, I'm honestly not sure. If you've reached out to Admissions for an answer, please let us know!

Hello everyone, has anyone received any notifications regarding an interview? Was just curious to know if that process has started for any of the programs.

I haven't yet. I believe I've seen people be interviewed in February for Chapman, but take what i say with a grain of salt. I'm patiently waiting as well. :)

Has anyone received an interview request for directing? It seems that requests for screenwriting are been sending out.
I haven’t received anything yet! I’m guessing they will probably send out interview requests starting this month, especially mid- February though

I actually submitted the application on the very last day, so I don't think they send out interview requests on a rolling basis.
When did you submit your application? I’m wondering if they send out interview request on rolling basis
It seems that last year the interview requests were sent out on the first Friday of February as well, I am not sure if they are out at a time or there could be more next week.

I'm not sure either because unlike other schools that notified me of the specific interview time, Chapman allowed me to choose the interview date myself, and I could choose February 23 at the latest. I wish they can't finish everything in one day and will keep sending out interviews next week,

And I guess maybe it's because I'm an international student. I heard that the school would often interview international students first, and maybe because we have a time difference so we can choose the interview time first.

Thanks for your info! According to last year’s thread, some people clicked the link immediately after they received the email, but only to find very few slots left. Since all slots are still available on your page, I believe those interview requests are not finished yet.
