    Pursuit of writing or acting?

Show business is tough. Period. Breaking in as an actor isn't easier than breaking in as a writer. Being successful in either to the point where you can make a living out of them is equally challenging. These are just my two cents, but how about really trying both? I know that at some point...

Kind of lost and need guidance

You are right. Most film productions happen in those two states, so moving to one of those could be a good idea, depending on how much you want to be a filmmaker. As of right now, what I think you should do first is try to determine what career path within the film industry attracts you the...

    Film Connection Mentor Program

Your assessment is spot-on. I'm finishing up my CC general education courses, and the actual classes for 2 YEARS haven't been more than $2000. Basically 423 dollars a semester for classes, but maybe the site you looked at is taking books/room and board into consideration? But if they're saying...

    How to make a portfolio?

Scripts and films are essential to any filmmaker's portfolio. Since shooting requires a crew, budget, time, and work, I would recommend writing scripts first. That you can do by yourself. Remember that filmmaking is storytelling, thus understanding some screenwriting concepts is valued...

    Film Connection Mentor Program

Maybe someone can explain the flaw in my reasoning (if there is one), but here's what I did: I went to the website and the first thing I click is on "Tuition." They list some prices (with theirs as the cheapest, of course). According to them, the Junior/Community colleges charge between $5,000...

    Admission Requirements... Help!

Aory, What is your main interest in filmmaking? What are your goals, dreams at this time? You mentioned that you didn't take film classes, but you didn't express clearly what your plans are... I guess we're all assuming you want to be a director... Is that right? If you're still in high...

    Festival or school?

Sorry I don't no much about your GPA questions. But as for festivals, they are great places to meet people. I know some producers and writers who go to festivals just to make connections. Really... some of them don't even have movies in the festivals, but perhaps they can meet the programmer...

Applying to San Diego State, CSU Long Beach

CSU Long Beach has a GPA requirement of 3.4 for the film program. I know, not easy. They might review your application and even admit you if you have an exceptional reel. Since they have a great film program, I would recommend giving it a try.

    Best choice for filmmaking

The only reason you would not consider transferring is if you have film connections at Queen's University. If you can get jobs and gigs there in Canada because you know people, maybe moving wouldn't be such a great idea. Real-job experience is often better than classroom lectures. At NYU you...

My USC statement of Purpose and Video option

I think that you statement is great. It's very well-structure. However, it is impossible to say what committee selection is looking for... I too caught some typos. Make sure you fix them. Good luck!
