Chris said this was supposed to be visual poetry - and he really delivered. His use of light and contrast was really enjoyable, and the while both romantic and eerie, this short left me with a sense of longing and nostalgia. I look forward to seeing more from this director.

Visually stunning thought piece with startling, stark imagery. Excellent casting, moody, evocative. Haunting. Conjures an era when film was art as opposed to entertainment.

Refraction
Pros
  • The lighting was top tier
  • The camera work made it feel like her perspective
  • The way that it mixed clips of old home movies with a high quality camera was very unique and helped picture the story.
  • The artsy way of showing her painful past helped the plot unfold rather nicely
  • The story was very advanced.
  • The way you showed more hard topics in a thrilling kind of way was very unique and hit us very well
  • The music such as the piano work set the somber mood
Cons
  • Nothing really.

This film was (as we had said above) very artsy and brought up a harsh topic. It was a sad and controversial topic with many on one part of the blaming sides. We love how they put it out there, and yet they didn’t make it too inobvious. This was an uncomfortable topic that they didn't cop out on. This aspiring director is (at least what we’ve seen so far) much anticipated by me. The lighting and techniques were very well done and the music put it together nicely. FIVE STARS!
Bad advice
Pros
  • The music, the irony, the plot, the lighting, the way that it showed his advice and how the friend carried it out, the way she reacted to how he acted, the twist at the end
  • The acting was on point.
  • The costumes were well done
  • For a $500 film it seemed very professional
Cons
  • No cons

We liked the story and plot and the twist made it all the better. All together it was a great watch that held up with no moments that bored us. It was a great original story from what we assume will be a great upcoming director. It was very good and somewhat reminiscent of Saturday night live. We liked how it went above any expectations of what a good aspiring director’s film would be and went above some other films we’ve seen that are professional grade. Not only that, but the acting and screenwriting were very well thought out. You could tell these factors took more than a day. By the way, we loved how the camera work didn’t shake and looked very Hollywood like. FIVE STARS!

The shots nicely composed. Not a huge fan of inner monologue... it's way overdone in student films. (I've seen a TON of them) :) Try and find other ways to tell the story without it with visual imagery, looks and eyelines, on camera lines, etc in the future.

Love seeing the super8 film.

Looking forward to seeing your other films. :)
