    Chapman Applicants 2012/2013

That's interesting. The woman from the school told me that any fellowship offers would've "most likely" been included with the original financial aid award. She seemed pretty sure about it. Kind of odd that you wouldn't find out about a fellowship until after you accept (since, in theory people...

    MFA - Paying for it

Sorry, but I don't do the "passive-aggressive" internet stuff (open with a sarcastic insult, follow with an apology for something else), so go engage somebody else with that. You make some good points, but they tend to get lost in your quest to have everyone notice that you're the most clever...

    MFA - Paying for it

I'm a grown man, I don't look for anybody to talk me into or out of anything. I said people struggle to find industry employment and you interpret that to mean I'd be hoping to come out of grad school with "comfortable, full-time employment"...there's about 3467449925 miles between those two...

    MFA - Paying for it

There are a ton of people, even on this board, who go through school, then struggle to find industry employment...let alone pay back 100k plus unsubsidized interest (plus whatever you owe from undergrad)...it gives me a lot of pause.

    MFA - Paying for it

How does everyone intend on financing their MFA pursuits? Loans? Full ride? Generous parents? Savings? 100k seems like a lot to borrow. I'm having trouble wrapping my head around the logic of it...

    UCLA Screenwriting MFA 2013

Everyone I know who's semi connected to the industry and did not attend UCLA says USC is better and you'll be more "connected." The interviewer at UCLA said the difference was at USC you'll have 1-3 polished scripts, and at UCLA you'll have 6-7 scripts (polished on your own time because they...

    UCLA Screenwriting MFA 2013

Secretteachings, I took the professional program online... While I wasn't impressed with the experience levels of most of the other writers in my group, I was impressed with the enthusiasm and knowledge, willingness to help, etc. of the two teachers I had. I appreciated the smallness of the...

    Chapman Applicants 2012/2013

ath579, Congrats. I may or may not see you there in the fall! I was accepted too, but am still awaiting word from two other programs. My question to you, and to everyone... Does paying full price give you pause at all? I received my "financial aid package" which was nothing more than the...

    Chapman Applicants 2012/2013

I had an interview at ucla for mfa screenwriting, and I asked my interviewer about Chapman ( I've been accepted at Chapman). He was very complimentary of the program, of the faculty and all the new facilities. So today I gave myself a tour of Chapman. Really nice, safe neighborhood, real...

Linda Voorhees...I hope Jason doesn't show up. Does anybody have an opinion about whether or not who the interviewer is says anything about your chances to get in?
