    UCLA Screenwriting MFA 2013

I actually like that kind of a system. It would be nice to be attached to an instructor who actually is interested in something you are writing. Do you have any opinion of in person vs skype interviewing? I'm doing mine in person.

    UCLA Screenwriting MFA 2013

Crusader, don't worry about being "recommended" to the professional program. They take many who apply. I had a few people in my class who were extremely new to screenwriting...but as I've said elsewhere, it was a great experience and well worth the price in my opinion.

    UCLA Screenwriting MFA 2013

"They have a fairly good idea of who they want in already, the interview is just to make sure you're not a nutjob." Based on what you've said, I would conclude that you believe you must have just done completely, horribly bad in the interviews you've had? (The only alternative would be that...

    Interviews - Acceptances - Rejections - Waitlists 2013

I'm just curious... Why did you apply for one and not the other at one but not the other? Lol. Was there a particular reason?

    UCLA Screenwriting MFA 2013

You could say the same for ______ (fill in the blank) master's degree. It can be argued that there is more than just further education that one can get from attending a top notch mfa program. I get your points though, which is why I didn't apply at certain schools because I just wouldn't be...

    UCLA Screenwriting MFA 2013

It definitely sucks...but if I were you I would wait until I was extremely confident I could control all emotions, and treat the call or further emails as a fact finding mission. Maybe it'd be better to play "confused" rather than angry, though you have every right to be angry. But rejection...

"Recently, The Dark Night Rises left its subtextual imprints on my juicy psyche. Two events resonated: The stock exchange and football game scenes. The second begins with the singing of the national hymn, as if the director is communicating to the world that the United States has been reduced to...

    USC MFA writing sample

Okay, pretty basic scenario: You get 10 pages of your own writing to submit for USC. Option A) 10 pages from a feature length script. Option B) a complete 10 page short script. Assume they are both equal quality. Which do you submit, and why?

    Film Treatment Question

It might be hard for you to get into an mfa program if you don't yet know what a plot point is. It sounds like you need to take an intro course. You could be doing that right now at a junior college where you live, and you'd learn all this stuff and could still go through the application...

    Questions about some applications

look on amazon or ebay for books on treatments. I have read a couple decent ones. "Write treatments That Sell" is a decent book. Even if it's 1 page, find a way to focus on at least 5 major plot points. 1 - Inciting Incident 2- Plot point 1 3- Midpoint 4- Plot point 2 5- Climax I think...

    Film Treatment Question
