Waitlisted (After Interview) NYU Rita & Burton Goldberg Department of Dramatic Writing MFA - Fall 2022
The application process was fine. Enjoyed the interview. Unfortunately was waitlisted but I would strongly consider the program, as the lecturers are very experienced and the program is rigorous and comprehensive. Alternative schools to strongly consider if applying: 1. AFI 2. Austin 3. USC- bagofcupcakes

Just wanted to say, very surprised that with your nearly perfect ACT (36 being the max!) and gpa that you didn't get into USC. The only minor thing I have seen/heard is that USC has a slight preference for non traditional graduate students, older, more life experience etc. Glad you got into NYU...- bagofcupcakes

Considering most here are just starting out it makes better sense to focus on the next 2-5 years of a career trajectory not the “eventual” twenty years from now. I think in certain regions, and certain companies, people absolutely care. And I think being honest about that is important. You bring up a great point about pros and cons. Well Columbia is an Ivy League and certainly more prestigious (if you care about that sort of thing). I feel like the name alone of the school would be really helpful, but both are great.- bagofcupcakes
