    Money for college

I know I'm not on these forums very often anymore, but I got an email alert for this thread for some reason. I graduated Tisch Film at NYU in 2009. It IS NOT TRUE that there are no jobs out there to help you pay back your loans. Are they easy to get? No. Does everyone get one? No. But they...

    motion picture aau

Thanks to a personal site message, I have been invoked from the mysterious places where I went when I got really busy and stopped having time to moderate here. movied has been permanently suspended for excessive trolling. I cleaned up a bunch of posts. And, sorry guys, for how un-moderated...

    simple question...

I'm guessing not nearly as much as other things, like your scores and essay, and creative portfolio, but it can't hurt! Mine was all kind of borderline stuff, like working with a local theatre group, and I got in...

Of course. I applied to all of the schools at the same time :)

    Have I missed something?

Okay cool. I just wanted to make sure you'd considered everything :)

    Have I missed something?

But you might not get in everywhere. This is very much a game of chance. Best to apply everywhere and then find out. I applied to seven schools, and got into NYU and Emerson.

    Have I missed something?

The risk is only the cost of an application. That's like, what, $60? It's stupid to pass up on a great school because of the tiny chance that you'll have wasted an application. There's a very high chance you'll get a scholarship, reducing the cost to below your parents' cut-off, and a very low...

    Have I missed something?

NYU will tell you what your scholarship is when they accept you. Standards are around $9,000 for merit. Grad school at NYU is nearly the same as undergrad, and they don't recommend you do both.

    where to start?

Hey... I'm so glad to hear you're trying to do this after all that trouble. Good luck! Look into these schools: NYU FSU Emerson Chapman U of Texas at Austin For non-degree technical programs: NYFA Some schools will accept you based on writing, or even photographs. Check with them. NYU will...

Again... I don't know. What school are you going to? Did you ask them outright?

    Ownership

What school is it? The first paragraph you quoted seems to refer to you as a person. They can use your photo and quotes in advertising and that sort of thing. The second paragraph you quoted is unclear. What sales must be defined and contracted by the school? Ask them. They'd have no reason...

should i go to film school and pursue film career

If you have only two ideas, that's fine. Once you let yourself evolve into a filmmaker mindset, more will come. You may even find that those ideas gradually lose interest. But you're on the right track. Don't force an idea. It will come to you.

    Best Film Student job

If you can get a job in your school's film department, you will truly be living the good life. Pay is decent, and you get all sorts of perks, like free equipment checkout, unlimited use of facilities, friends in high places, and a lot of connections. I try to keep myself afloat with web design...

You just need to work on good SAT scores and a killer essay, and you're in good shape.

    Community College then Transfer

But many of the film schools are at major universities like NYU, FSU, USC, etc., where there is a strong general education component in the curriculum. I know you can transfer a large amount of credits into NYU to fulfill humanities and science requirements.

Big Screen/ Film Exploration Floor at NYU Third Hall North

Most 3N views are nice. The photography floor on 12 E has one of the best views in the entire city. Make friends with those people and visit frequently around sunset. Even the courtyard views are decent. Don't worry about the view though. You'll get enough fantastic views from the Tisch Building...
