Same here. Can't decide if I want to apply for editing though. Editing isn't really my primary focus, but AFI is AFI. Most likely I'm going to just apply for directing again in the fall, or just focus on getting my feature film off the ground. What's your plan?
Congrats to everyone who has been...
Hey congrats @ryanv! I hope everyone else hears back soon.
Not looking great for me. I still haven't gotten asked to interview. Not the first time I've been rejected from a film school, so, while I'm disappointed, it's alright. I'd love to work with those who get in though. I'm also an actor...
Hey there! I haven't been asked for an interview yet, so I feel you on the wait killing me. How'd your interview go, and what's your background with screenwriting?
It's been ten years since I graduated from Emerson College, but overall it was a good experience. I was a transfer, so most things I disliked came from that (living off campus and struggling to meet people). The biggest pros of Emerson are its student orgs and its post grad network. Student orgs...
I'm super bias, but Boston is pretty great. It's like a small town in the form of a big city. You can walk everywhere, it's full of history, and there's plenty of things to do. It's a 4-5 hour train ride from NYC, and there's a lot of great towns just outside of it. I've never been to Chicago...

My application was done very last minute. I managed to do everything in a weekend, and I don't recommend it. It is a lot to do, and I'm thankful to all the people that helped me finish in time. Applying to AFI has been something I had been wanting to do for years. I decided to give it a shot not...
Ah you must be smart then. What made you switch over to film?
I went to Emerson for writing for film and television a decade ago, and then pursued acting at Lee Strasberg in NYC. Everyone there wanted my help with their short films because of my background, so I got good at managing sets...
Ah gotcha. Do you feel more confident going into the interview this time? I'm sure you have a great answer for what you'd do if you don't get accepted this time as you literally just lived it. Why were you disappointed they didn't ask about your favorite movies?
