Couple notes for the MFA Production program: heard today that the admissions committee is still working out decisions. They've apparently seen a huge spike in applicants (up 50% from last year). LMU is definitely on the rise!
Congrats on the acceptance! And, yeah, there are a bunch of TA-ships available. Most are $12k for the year, I believe (some might be more but I'm not positive).
I told you not to give up hope haha! I wrote a longer post earlier in this thread about my experience interviewing at FSU if you want to check that out :)
I believe I heard back mid- to late- February so y'all should be hearing back within the next few weeks if the admission schedule is like last year's!
Also, as I mentioned earlier in the thread, I first received notice of my admission through the my.lmu.edu site before any email, etc...so keep...
Yeah, I know multiple people in WPTV who turned down USC, UCLA, etc. for LMU...I honestly think the writing programs here are the absolute best in the country and the production program is on the rise as well. And the film school's reputation is really starting to get up there, too...as I...
The WPTV program here at LMU really seems top-notch. Great professors, visiting/guest lecturers from what I've heard. It seems as though Roberto Orci (co-creator and writer on Fringe, current showrunner of Sleepy Hollow & writer/producer of many other shows and films) is pretty involved in the...
FSU can take a very long time to send out admission decisions, etc. I got accepted after every other school already sent out their admission decisions.
Congratulations! Just in case you didn't see my other posts, though I'm a first year in the Production track here at LMU, if you have any questions about the school, I'll do my best to answer!
Our first year, we have set schedules. First semester, we take production, cinematography, editing and screenwriting. Second semester, we take production, sound, pre-production and either screenwriting (writing for your second year project) or documentary pre-production (if you want to make a...
Yeah, LMU has an Entertainment Internship Program to help students find internships, including internships specialists you can meet with. I know WPTV students have had success finding good internships.
Hey there! Yep, first year in the MFA production track. I'm really enjoying my time here! Good professors, talented students, great equipment (better cameras than USC for example...I have a friend who goes to USC and from everything he's been telling me, I think I prefer LMU's model but I...
So for the interview, I was grouped with, if I recall correctly, five other potential students. First, the FSU Head of Production gave us a little speech about the program. Then, they take the students in one by one to interview with a committee of three people. This individual interview was...
Though I ended up choosing to attend LMU, I did make the trip to Tallahassee last year for the FSU production interview...if you have any questions or anything, let me know!
I already posted this on a more general thread but figured I'd post again in here because it's more relevant:
I'm a first year production student at LMU so if any of y'all have any questions or anything, let me know!
Best of luck to you all and I hope to see some of you guys here next Fall!
