@TheReal, I hope you didn't give up on AFI yet. I mean there is a wait list for a reason, so I do not think all hope is lost yet. You were so positive on the AFI thread that I hate to see you give up so soon :)
Personally I applied to 5 schools and each one required was a little different...
If ur comfortable saying, may I ask how much are they offering in loans? Enough to cover tuition, food and rent? I don't have scholarships and def don't want to work.
Hey @kt, that's awesome that you're into editing. Of all the film disciplines, I think it's the hardest for me. You have to be such a detailed patient person to do it well. 10-15 hours a day 7 days a week?! WOW!
Hopefully all goes well for both of us! Thanks for the feedback and well wishes :)
@pins I feel for you, I can only imagine how heartbroken I would feel after such an experience. At least they recognized your talent! Try to stay positive :)
How did the other interviews go? @death and @kt how was LA? My interview was pushed back to March 20th...
I was waitlisted for the fall but offered admission for the spring. I'm still waiting to do my UCLA interview on the 10th though. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Oh ok cool. Good Luck on your interview! I would be interested in hearing what you think about UCLA's program verses USC's afterwards.
@nateflies not off topic for me! Thanks for the advice. You are inspiring me to go back in and start making some changes asap. Thanks! So did you get accepted to USC? It would be awesome to have some there who knows about squibs and guns.
@nateflies thanks! I have no idea what kind of gun is what. They were all friends guns and no blanks were fired. The actor fell on his own and the fake blood was added later.
I am going to look into the compositing on my film because I wanted to play with the look of the flashbacks.
@thehamm99 thanks for the recommendations. I had not heard of the other writers outside of Syd Field.
@sftola thanks I will look up Waiter's book. I tried Poetics, but like McKee and Joseph Campbell's the text is so dense it's hard for my brain to get around it.
Hey guys, sorry to intrude on your thread, but just wondering if anyone has read any good screenwriting books lately? I am looking for more of a "Save the Cat" book than McKee's Story. Personally I have read McKee 10 times over and still have no idea what he's talking about!
Thanks :)
@nateflies nice work. Did you manipulate the footage in Final Cut to make it darker? I really like the rhythm of your cuts.
I bought a 7d last year, but was too busy with applying to school and life to use it yet.
Here's my 5 min.: https://vimeo.com/54696987
The full short is 14mins and...
Hum, good point my instinct was to drop everything else once I heard about USC, but maybe I should go....thanks for te input, and good luck on ur afi interviews!
@mighty some how ur comments always make me smile lol
@stee0221 i cut a 5min excert out of a longer film.
@ huangwei I interviewed on feb 10th.
@death are you still going to do your afi interview?? I was going to fly down there but I think I will just skype now!!!
@kt - I know, I don't think I have ever clicked a link so fast in my life lol Fall or Spring I'll take it!
@achorusisrising - I feel you. I have been going crazy, second guessing myself and obsessing. That's why I had to post the earlier message. I truly hope you hear something soon :)
