The application process was great. Straightforward application, and my interviewers were really nice. I felt good about the materials I submitted and felt that my interview went well as we ended up going over time.
Nothing special to report. No interviews or anything of the sort. All of the information was available online. I repurposed a lot of materials from my other apps since this was the last deadline.
Very smooth. They didn't ask for a large writing sample and the essay was all about why I wanted to pursue film at this point. The interview was good and I learned about how the MFA has changed into a general MFA in Live Action Cinema, versus screenwriting,
It's been intersting. They had a unique application, rather than one or two big scripts to parse through, they gave 2 custom 5 page scenes they wanted. There were like a dozen mini essays. It seemed like they didn't want to get the same kit that every other school get's, so the essays are...
I found the application to be a lot less intensive than expected. Nothing compared to say NYU.
(The writing requirements for NYU and never-ending!)
It actually felt like they cared very little what your past experience OR ability is. I have really no idea what they are looking for.
I was...
Frustrating.
Initially deferred after Early Action.
Now notified I am on the Waitlist. With all the delays due ot FAFSA, I have no expectation of getting off the waitlist.
I'll be going elsewhere.
I have no complaints. UCLA had one of the longer applications but I really enjoyed the interview and the timeliness of everything. To be honest, I had no faith that I would get in and really thought I had messed up my interview with a dumb joke I made because I was nervous. Everyone was...
The application was fairly easy, but I wrote three original scenes for the application because they had three prompts.
I did not submit the feature writing sample that I submitted to all the other film schools.
As for the interview, I am surprised that they're asking us to fly ourselves to the...
This was my second time applying to USC, as I would love to attend. This time, it felt much more enjoyable to do the prompts (less pressure!). It's the same prompts as last year, so I took more creative chances and tried to write a thematic storyline across the prompts to show my personality...
Smoothly. The application portal is easy to navigate, and the school has been helpful with any questions I've had. I attended a virtual information session which was also very helpful, and they answered all the questions I and others had about the program.
It was my first time applying for any MFA program as well as any screenwriting program. I was overwhelmed by thte amount of work for the scholarship applications. Make sure to not forget about those should they be applicable for you, as it's an extra 4-5 questions plus an additional scene...
Ehhhhh….it went okay! I did my SOP very very last minute and it may be the worst of the bunch, but it’s okay!
Overall it was a much simpler application than some of the others. The SOP prompt is more “why this program” focused, so just come into it with a damn good reason “why NYU” and the SOP...
The application process for UT Austin's Radio-Television-Film Department MFA in Screenwriting went pretty smoothly thus far. It is definitely a good idea not to wait until the last moment to submit.
Here are the bumps/obstacles I had:
• I accidentally entered the wrong attendance dates for the...
It was super nerve-wracking because the application portal is really clunky and weird. After I submitted my application and entered MyStatus, MyStatus always said it was "in review" which scared me a little bit. Also, every time you upload a document, it doesn't replace the old one, it just adds...

Application process was pretty straightforward. They asked for a half-hour or hour-long pilot, or a full length feature as creative portfolio, a statement of purpose and a creative resume with a list of published/produced work.
It was very, very nerve-wracking. I just wrote my 5-page screenplay tonight. I mulled over the personal statement way too much. I feel fairly confident about my 20-page screenplay sample, even though it's the first 20 pages of a feature. I'm hoping it goes well, but I'm trying not to get my...
