Congrats!
There's no FB group yet. My guess is they're waiting until they have a full incoming class. Feel free to pm me if you want to connect before then.
Umm..I would say it's totally unnecessary to hire someone as a consultant to get into an MFA program. What'll matter most is your personal essay and portfolio sample.
Decisions are due May 1st. They had an info session this past weekend and half the admitted class (12 students) attended. It seemed like most of them were leaning towards accepting if they hadn't already. Hope it works out for you!
I've formally accepted my offer from NYU and have been looking into housing options. It's pretty daunting. Doesn't seem like I'll really be able to properly look until late July at the earliest.
Does anyone have any firm ideas of what they're going to do for housing? NYU's grad housing seems...
Hey JBen, if you have any questions about the Professional Program I may be able to answer them. I took the Producers course on campus and am currently enrolled in the online version of the screenwriting course.
Do you already have a bachelors? Most grad schools will require that. If you do it makes more sense to go to an MFA program.
It's really hard to say about financial aid. It seems very variable depending on the institution/student. Just fill out the paperwork when you apply, that's the best...
I interviewed with Dan and Eric.
Wow, that's really awesome! Congrats! I got into NYU too (I assume dramatic writing?). PM me if you're planning on going. I'd love to connect with some more folks.

I can't speak too much to either. I do know for a fact that Emerson has great connections to the industry. I interned at Comedy Central for a summer and almost everyone outside of myself had a connection to Emerson. I think it's a lot easier to get a job out of the gate if you go there.

Heard from everywhere:
UCLA (screenwriting)- Rejected
AFI (screenwriting)- Waitlisted
NYU (dramatic writing)- Accepted
Columbia (screenwriting/directing)-Waitlisted
Northwestern- Rejected.
NYU it is then!
Got wait listed as well. Had a feeling after hearing that most of you guys had interviews double the length of mine. I'm lucky enough that I got in NYU, but Columbia was my top choice.
Best of luck to the rest of you on the waiting list. And again congrats to those of you who got admitted.
Anyone planning on going to the info session on April 12th for admitted students to the dramatic writing program? I'd love to go, but it'll be hard for me to fly out.
I can't say for sure, but I know from my acceptance letter from NYU the department scholarship is separate from the institutional financial aid. If you don't get what you need, it's always worth trying to plead your case to the financial aid department. Just remember to be nice and friendly...
