Hey guys. In hopes of getting to know a few of you before we begin in the Fall I created a FB group for the Production and Screenwriting programs. To my best knowledge, none already exist so please correct me if I'm wrong. Here's the link:

As someone who lives in that area I wouldn't live in Playa Del Oro. It's way overpriced for what you'll get. Maybe try looking more towards Marina Del Ray (even a bit east of Lincoln) and around Abbot Kinney in Venice. Some areas of Mar Vista are beyond beautiful and very close to the school.

Regarding LMU scholarships, this is what I heard from the head of the Production MFA program: "We do have a few “incentive” scholarships for first-year students of around $5,000 dispersed at my discretion that is influenced by both need and a student’s academic strength and potential for success...

Exchanged emails with a current student at LMU. He answered some questions which I'll post below:
1) How many MFA students are accepted and enrolled in the program? Do all MFA Production students take the same classes? Is there a minimum or maximum amount of credits one can take per semester...
For a living cost comparison, a 1br in Santa Monica, Venice or MDR will cost about $2150 - $3000 per month, depending on quality. In Culver/Westchester/Palms about 1750-2400. In Orange, about $1550 - $1800. I was able to find a 1br in Orange for $1,500 per month that was nicer than my Santa...
For production at least, Chapman is 3 years. Also, the grad site says Loyola is $30,000 per year. With the higher costs of living on the West side LA (if you choose to live nicely), the cost between Chapman and Loyola is about even.

As someone that lives in Santa Monica, Chapman is about 60 minutes away from SM without traffic and about 120 minutes during rush hour. While living in orange was originally a negative, I now find Chapman's isolation a positive. 1) You save money in rent and expense. 2) You are kind of forced to...
