    i didn’t apply for the george lucas scholarship, but i wish i did. didn’t know there was an essay requirement until the deadline. are there other ways to apply for scholarships at USC?

    CalArts MFA 2026

    just received an interview invite! they have two options, virtual or on-campus, and i’ll probably go on-campus if i can get time off work. i’ll plan to ask about their equipment when i’m there. i hope their equipment selection isn’t subpar, would be a bummer.

    CalArts MFA 2026

    haven’t heard back from the school about an interview yet. don’t know too much about their equipment, but my understanding is that their main goal is to teach students to work with minimal budgets and to direct actors.

    Denied (w/o Interview) NYU - Film Production (2026)

    Had a lot of fun making the materials, especially the video self-portrait, dramatic story, and feature concept. I felt that I was able to show that I was a well-rounded filmmaker. Overall, I feel like my feature concept was the strongest component of my application.

    Spent a lot of time on the personal statement. I was able to edit my essays for UCLA to fit with the prompts for USC. Shooting the visual sample was fun, I decided to interpret the prompt loosely.

    Spent the majority of the time working on the treatment. In the end, I felt that it was fairly strong. However, I was revising my Statement of Purpose and Personal Statement up until the deadline, so I felt that I could've allocated more time on those essays instead of going all-in on the treatment.

    Haha I guess I’m the opposite, NYU is the only school I’m applying to outside California. I’m also applying to UCLA, USC, AFI, and CalArts. New York would be a big move for me and NYU is basically the only program I’d move out of LA for.
