Hey, I think NFTS degrees are validated by the Royal College of Art! And no it doesn't make a difference at all, it's very common. RADA, for example, is validated by Kings College London but no one would ever ask that! Hope that helps ☺️
I actually find the GradCas system a bit complicated and it's hard to do a final check of everything but other than that everything was relatively easy. I like the scene prompts AFI give as they are so broad which is nice.
The only school that didn't ask for extra creative materials but did ask for a full length pilot. They had the option of submitting an additional 30-minute pilot (to total 60 pages all together) which I did do this year, I didn't do this the first time I applied in 2020 and regretted it haha.
First time applying. I actually had technical issues with the application which was super stressful. One of my recommendations disappeared from my account the day before I wanted to submit and so I had to panic email my recommender and ask them to resubmit which thankfully they did but would...
Second time applying. Much happier with my creative challenges this time around but less happy with my 10-page sample. Also submitted the same (slightly edited) autobiographical statement which maybe I should have re-written but hey-ho.
Congratulations!! That's amazing! 🎉
I haven't heard anything yet but I feel like it's usually acceptances, waitlist and then rejections so I'll hold out for my rejection email 😂 fingers crossed you get offered a space later down the line!
No mine hasn't been concluded on the dashboard either.
I thought it just did that once we had had our interviews as the process is technically 'concluded' but I dunno! They said to me a couple of weeks if that helps!
Yes I was! They had actually scheduled it with the time difference in mind which was lovely of them. It didn't go very well haha but I'm glad I got that far and defo grateful for the experience ☺️
I'm from the UK but I'm working on a contract in China until January next year! Yeah I asked in the open day and they said it was possible so I'm hoping they'll allow it 😬
Thank you! 🤭 Well it's scheduled for July 14th but it's in-person which I can't do as I'm in Shanghai sooooo I'm gonna drop them an email to see if there's an alternative 😬
Hey! There were a variety of reasons but the main one was that I ended up in hospital 2 weeks before I was meant to fly and I needed ongoing medical treatment 😅 However, I would say that cost was also equally as big of a factor. I was looking at a £120,000 loan and not being able to have an...
As far as I'm aware, no? 😬 I didn't send a thank you email to my interviewees at AFI last year and I still got in so I wouldn't worry about it! You can always send a thank you to Emily on the info@nfts.co.uk if you want to be safe ☺️
I actually think they said July for the interviews?? That seems to match up with the previous years from what I can find but god knows at this point 😂 maybe the notifications go out in June?
I actually really didn't know what to say on that one haha. Found it a bit hard to fill the word count and make it interesting? I ended up just giving my idea of what a writer would do in the production process 🤷♀️
