Good evening, frequent flyers.
As I mentioned in a previous post in the Chapman News thread this evening, I was selected for a fellowship today, as well as for admission to Chapman for this fall. My emphasis will be Film Studies MA. Has anyone else here been accepted to this program? Who else...
UPDATE: This morning, I received an e-mail from Joe Slowensky's office with the subject header "Chapman University - Fellowship". The letter informed me that I have been selected for a Dodge College fellowship, beginning with the words "having previously granted you admission into our graduate...
When I logged on to webadvisor not two minutes ago, the status field that has been reading "File Complete - Decision Pending" until now is blank. Is that happening to anyone else? My application is for the MA in Film Studies.
By the way, when I called Eva Yen to check on the status of my...
Sounds to me like they're still trying to iron out the kinks from the technical glitch. I called Eva yesterday and she said that a decision for my film studies application should be reached within the next two weeks. Before you call Eva again, check webadvisor just to be safe. The 'decision...
nhfilm,
Judging from Anton4cine's last post, it looks as though you have advanced one step closer to being accepted to Chapman. Now, if only there were a film studies grad student out there who committed a similar generous act, I'd be in Fat City...but foxwithcpu would probably get in ahead of...
Thanks, fox.
That gives me an excellent idea of how long I'll have to wait. Since it's already early May, I'm thinking I'll have to do what SD Grad did and request a copy from one of the grad assistants before the admissions office makes their decision.
Enjoy your Tuesday!
I received a letter from Chapman today informing me that my application is complete and has been passed on to the next step for review. Here's my question de jour. (or is it "du joir"? my French is a little rusty)
To those of you who received promotional DVDs in the mail, how long after...
Speaking of UCLA, I received a second rejection notice from them last night via e-mail. Yes, you read that last sentence correctly; a SECOND rejection notice for one application. In all honesty, that had never happened to me before last night. When I first saw the subject header, UCLA Graduate...
Hey folks,
Just a quick message to let you know that I received a rejection letter from AFI today. This is the seventh rejection for me thus far, and right now, I am all about Chapman. At least I don't have to worry about getting caught in acceptance offer limbo. If Chapman floats me an offer...
Hey gang,
I just sent my application to Chapman Film Studies (with screenwriting designated as my second discipline) yesterday afternoon. Does anyone know how many slots Chapman typically fills for the film studies and screenwriting programs?
Here's another question. Of all those that were...
yes|thief,
Give yourself a pat on the back. If you made it to the top 25% on your first attempt at applying to what is arguably the toughest graduate film program in the country, your effort deserves praise. I didn't even apply to graduate school for first time until I was 27, five years after...
CORRECTION: My current application standing is six down, TWO to go. Boy, there's nothing like fuzzy math to fly under your proofreading radar and make you look like a blithering idiot, is there?
Enjoy your reading.
Hello, fellow frequent fliers.
It's been awhile since this thread has been visited, so I thought I'd bust out the defibrillators and revive this patient. In the words of Alan Shepherd, let's light this candle.
A few minutes ago, I received an e-mail from the graduate admissions department at...
Good afternoon, everyone.
The title of this post has no doubt started some of you to thinking, "What in the wide, wide world of sports is THIS topic doing on the SF forum?" That's a fair question and it deserves an honest answer.
As we enter the season of acceptance, this time of year marks a...
Hey gang,
I just received a rejection from Columbia regarding my Film Studies MA application. As I've mentioned in previous posts, I honestly believed that this was my strongest application. At this point, I can only wonder what kept me from being accepted. I'll call their admissions on Monday...
Suzuki-San,
Congratulations on being admitted to the film studies MA program at Columbia! May I ask, how did the department contact you? When I spoke with someone about a rejection letter I received from the school last Friday, the lady I talked to said that the letter in question rejected my...
Hey gang,
I just received a rejection letter in the mail from Columbia University. What confuses is whether I was rejected to both programs (Film MFA and Film Studies MA) or just Film MFA. The wording in the letter stated that "the Film Division is unable to offer you admission to the incoming...
I applied to film studies with screenwriting as my second choice. All three of my recommenders have sent in their LoR's, so that means I need to get off the canvas and submit my application materials. Looking at the calendar, I have exactly one month to do so. Think I'll make it?
Have a good...
Jayimess,
Thank you for your kind words and well wishes.
Regarding my "where's everyone at" update du jour, I have nothing new to report since the last time I posted my graduate school scoreboard. Before I go any further, am I the only one who has noticed that the title of this thread is...
Jayimess,
To be honest with you, I briefly experienced the very fear you referred to before I decided to apply to both disciplines. If it's any mitigation, I spoke with Mr. Sandberg at NYU (very nice man) shortly after I was invited for an interview for the Tisch Asia campus last month. At that...
